I dropped close to 40 fps? Wow. I wasnt expecting that much. [:-]
All things being equal, you'd lose about 1fps per gr of aditional arrow weight. I just did this in my head. Approx 180gr more arrow weight would slow things down about 38fps. Pretty close to the 40fps you said.

Wow, that puts the bow down to the speeds we used to get back in the mid 70's when compounds were in their infancy.

Yup! Shes slow! With my 55# and 26 inch draw length, what do you really expect? If it was up to IBO specs, it would still be incredibly slow compared to the new Bowtechs, but I guarantee its ALOT smoother and just as quiet. Its an all custom Black Eagle. Nothing on it is stock, the cable and string length are all custom, the grip, the "power limbs" and cams all come from 3 different bows. You'd be surprised just how smooth she is. I call her Betsy.

I wouldn't sell it so short. Just for fun I plugged your numbers in to some software I have and scaled them up to the IBO 70#, 30" dl, and 350 grain arrow. The orangish cells are calcualated and the white cells under (1) and (2) are input. (1) is the conditions of your set up and (2) are IBO. I assumed a 125 grain virtual mass and I increased the brace height on (2) to 8" in order to keep the SEP in proper range. Though these are just guesses I think they are very reasonable. Note the speed comes out to pretty close to 300 ft/sec.

O.K. sorry about that. Right away I see I screwed up and entered 50# instead of 54# for your initial condition. Now it turns out to around 288 ft/sec.

I meant to say 1fps per 5gr of arrow weight. Senior moment.

Sounds like you got a bow you're well stisfied with and that is what really matters.
