I have been experimenting a little with different silencers on the string. I have been using plain old cat whiskers, and they seem to make a strange rattling noise when shot. I first I thought it was something loose on the bow. So I went over it and everyting is good and tight. I plucked the string, and there it was. I swapped them out with string leeches, and its perfect. Has anyone ever seen this before on certain bows? I always thought you couldn't go wrong with cat whiskers, but they made noise on my bow. I had them tied into the string also.

Muzzy,
Did you have the Whiskers actually served in tight and then clipped into a small "Puff"?
I have seen (or should say heard<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>) what you are talking about with overly long whiskers.
Mine are all served in very tight and then cut to flare out into small, maybe half dollar or smaller "puffs". They've worked great for me like this......very quiet and durable.
I do agree that Leeches work very well, but I'm a bit leary to try them again (even the new Kevlar ones) because of their breakage history. Got whacked above the eye by one once and that was the end of the Leeches for me......plus I shoot so much that the durability is a big concern.
I probably am loosing 1-2fps more over the Leeches even tied extremely short, but I know that they aren't going anywhere, and they work very well the way I use them (I can't tell any difference VS Leeches)
I hope you have good luck with them......do you know if they are the new Kevlar version? I have yet to really hear if they are holding up.

Matt, I am using the new ones. I haven't had them on long enough to say whether they are better or not. My whiskers were pretty long to tell you the truth. Maybe that was it. I usually just put the leeches on before season, then they are good to go all season.
Thanks for the insight.
