I ran some different arrows thru the chrono this morning. Here are the results. I figured with all the talk about the Allegiance some may find this interesting[8D]

Test was made at 29 inch draw length and 62 pounds draw weight.
Peep, Kisser, Hush Kit and Loop on the string.

Carbon Express CXL select 250

310.6 grains 318.2 fps

Gold Tip Pro Hunters 5575

340 grains 308.2 fps

Gold Tip XT 5575

360 grains 302 fps

Easton Lightspeed 400

370 grains 299.2 fps

Gold Tip XT 5575

400 grains 288.8 fps

Those are some good numbers. I particurlary like the 370 grains pushing 300fps. That is incredible with a 62lb bow!!

If nothing else, Bowtech definitely has this speed thing on lock

There is a nice write up on the Allegiance VFT in 'Inside Archery' this month. Bill Krenz put one through its paces. Like most Bow reviews he had nothing but good to say about the bow. The one thing that he does that I find interesting however is he records some REAL numbers (as opposed to the manufacturers IBO speeds) because he shoots each test bow with a Hooter Shooter through a chrono.

Here is how the Allegiance stacks up against a couple of other bows in the speed department according to Krenz' tests, although it really isn't comparing apples to apples because of ATA length and brace height, but it is interesting to mull over in one's head. These are all Bill Krenz' numbers: "All twsts conducted with a Spot-Hogg Hooter Shooter portable shooting machine and a Competition Electronics ProChrono Plus chronograph." Draw lengths set at "29 inches and 70 pounds."

I was going to include a couple of more but it takes to much time to do and even after editing I can't get the columns to line up so this whole post may be an excercise in futility. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the Switchback test to throw in the mix for good measure, if in fact he has even printed one yet.

Before someone jumps all over me for the Vtec and the Edge shooting OVER their IBO ratings (Vtec 305 and the Edge 310), all I can say is take it up with Bill Krenz. He is the one that recorded these numbers.

...Ah but I digress, I can't wait to shoot the Allegiance. I shot the Switchback the other day and if the Allegiance is a better all around shooter than that, then BowTech has really got something.

Somethings not right here. My bow shoots most of those stated speeds at 62 pounds.

Yes those would be basically the exact numbers for a 60# peak model Allegiance as Buckeye's numbers and my own testing suggest. I've done it myself...... If you look they fall exactly in line.
I thinky that Krentz had a bad typo there.
A 29"/70# Allegiance at AMO draw length, will most certainly shove a 348gr. arrow close to 320fps, trust me on that one.

I shot a 29"/60#'r through the chrono at the ATA show with a 305gr arrow and it shot 317fps. I weighed and measured everything including draw weight on a digital scale.
Birth certificate hanging on the bow said 29"/60.7#/300gr= 319

I think there was a typo as well.

The one thing I have noticed with my Allegiance is that it does not lose all that much speed at my shorter draw lenght as other bows do.

I did send 'Inside Archery' an email to clarify the numbers so we will have to wait and see what they say.

A goldtip 5575 @ 400gr 29"dr 62lbs...shoots 288.8.........Thats 74lbs of kinetic energy!!!! Did i do the math right????lol Man thats awesome!!!!!!

I have been looking at the allegiance and now after seeing some of these numbers that are being posted i cant wait to shoot one!!!!!

I'm a 28.5 but use a d-loop so i shoot a 28" but man even at that i am just itchin to see what it will do... I have been wanting to shoot a heavier arrow at faster speeds for more ke and it looks like this bow might be the one to do it for me.....I have got to get my hands on one..
