Default Bowtech Speed Expectations

I just purchased an 04' Patriot Dually, and I am wondering what kind of speed I should realistically expect. The bow maxed out at 74 lbs and that what we shot through the chrono. I dont have the bow yet as I needed 30" and the bow had 29" modules. The dealer is supposed to get the new module by Wednesday and I am to go get setup and tuned. Anyway I told the dealer I wanted to see what kind of speed it got with an arrow comparable to what I would be hunting with(about 400 grains). The bow shot 285 fps w/ a 400 gr arrow, peep with alighnment tubing(to be gotten rid of), string loop, and the rest of the standard Bowtech silencing leeches etc. Does that sound about right with 29" module? How much will it come up with the 30" module? I shoot 27.5" Gold Tip XT's with 100 gr points. Im thinking this is a standard hunting weight, anyone disagree? Too light? Too heavy? Your opinions are greatly appreciated, Thanks

When you get that 30" mod and get rid of the alignment tubing you should be around 300fps maybe a little more.

I think Techy pretty much nailed it with a speed expectation based on the info that you have already provided. Peep tubing is a killer when it comes to speed as is just about anything else that you place on the bowstring...especially the middle.

Assuming an IBO of around 330, you are losing about 5-6 fps with squidees installed on the string/cables. The 400 grain arrow is causing a speed reduction of about 16-17 fps. That would place you in the low 300's overall.

As for the arrow weight....400 grains is probably at the low end of the average range for hunting arrows nowadays. Some folks shoot lighter than that but I would guess most arrows fall between 400 and 475 grains total...with a few that shoot heavier as well.

I have a 03 Patriot Dually. 30 inch at 72 pounds.
It shot 305 fps average five different shots. That is with a 398 grain Goldtip 55/75 four inch vanes with a 6 degree helical through a wisker biskit. Knotless string loop, peep with no tubing, and leeches.

I shot My 04 Pat VFT single cam the other day thru a crono and got 290fps, that was with a 407 gr arrow and all accessories on the string including an alignment tube. I shoot a 30 inch draw and the poundage is a little over 70. (I haven't measured it yet but it's cranked down) Afterward I removed my nock set in favor of a knot. That may buy me a couple feet. I thought 290 was fast for a hunting set up compaired to my Q2XL that was 275 with the same set up.
