Well....There it is!
Before I go ANY further , here's a SMILEY face to make everyone understand that the rest of this post is of the GOOD NATURED VARIETY!!

Ok.......First off.....good report, nice pics too.
The first and foremost question in my mind is this........and believe me I respect your right to not like certain things about a bow......BUT!......
You almost act surprised that the bow indeed was almost 38&quot; long (yoohoo it's a &quot;Pro38&quot; <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>) and very end loaded....... and that &quot;Oh crap it really does weigh more than 4lbs.&quot;.......and that the grip is a bit funky.
It seems to me that the major dissapointments you have with the bow stems from things you should or could have figured out simply by picking it off the rack......well before the wallet ever opened.
If that was the major sticking point, then I'm actually surprised that you bought it in the first place.
Judging by the way you described it in your report I would have guessed you'd have picked it up......and thought &quot;Ehhh yeah it is a bit too long and heavy for my tastes.....what other offerings are there.&quot;

To tell you the truth there isn't a single thing in that report that is of any surprise to me except that you actually bought it?......I'm still trying to figure it out.

Did you actually shoot it before hand or even get to handle it......or was the purchase sight unseen? That might explain a lot.

To each his own my friend...... I'm just curious how it ever got to the purchase phase.

So are you sour now on BowTech?.....it actually sounds like you were diggin' the performance just not the wrapper!......
There is always the ExtremeSolo w/ its 7&quot; BH and 35&quot; ATA.
A friend of mine actually thought that it shot better than the Pro38.
Might be worth a look see.
Too bad for the Mighty Mite. That's the one I think you'd go GAGA over.
And as far as the Patriot,Gen3.2, or the BKII for 2002 go.......I'm guessing that you wouldn't care for them right out of the box either as they all have similar attributes.
Long ATA (or at least a long FEEL in the Patriot's case) and 4+lb mass weight.

I guess that leaves you only the Extreme Solo and if you want to do the budget bow report......the &quot;Stalker&quot;!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

OK fill a brother in......why did you buy the thing in the first place? ANd dang it the 2002's are nicer!

HEY FRANK YOU MISSED ME!!.....<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Moonge,

Surprisingly you are the second person to mention the Nitro in the last few days. Apparently it is somewhat of a &quot;sleeper&quot;.

Winger,

I wish you the best of luck with the Pat. I had a chance to &quot;Feel up&quot; a 60 lb model at the local shop though I didn't get to shoot it. I don't think you can go wrong with that bow...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

HuntingBry,

Not at the present time. I think Jeff and I might be trading some bows...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Razorhunter,

The Cybertec might get the nod later this year. I have had the opportunity to shoot and handle the Versacam model of the bow on several occasions...with much satisfaction.

Antler Eater,

Thank you for the very charismatic comments. Coming from a Mathews nut like yourself I will take it as high praise. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I still might go the Patriot route...lets see what happens with Ebay first...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Jeff,

You will be getting mail shortly...

Matt,

Sorry I missed you in my last post but I must have been typing it when you were posting your last message.

To answer your question...Yes, I got to handle it but, no, I didn't shoot it. Actually, I related that in one of the earlier Bowtech threads on this forum when discussing one of my visits to the local pro shops in search of a Patriot.

I knew what it felt like to hold and actually stated that it felt heavier than what I was accustomed to and that the grip was rather uncomfortable....

....but what the heck, I bought it anyway! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. A man needs to try new things and just because I didn't have a favorable initial impression of it doesn't mean that I wouldn't like it after putting my setup on it and taking it for a &quot;test drive&quot;.

As I stated I thought it was everything you guys promoted it to be...but the feel of the bow itself was not to my liking and didn't change even after I &quot;dialed it in&quot; to my specs.

I have no problem recommending it to anyone and I have no reservations about getting another Bowtech model to try out. As I stated in the post above this one...Jeff and I might do some tradin' or if I get a decent bid for it on Ebay then I might just go out and buy a Patriot....

Come on Matt, you should know me to be more open-minded than that....I sold my favorite Hoyt to give the Bowtechs a go...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I guess it's kinda like &quot;Back in the Day&quot; when you meet a girl that you know is gonna be trouble.......but you buy her a drink anyway.
Certain things you like......others you don't but you go for it anyway!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I know you to well to ever find you narrow minded buddy.....you just had me a bit perplexed with that choice and then the reaction to it.
It almost seemed like a &quot;Blind Taste Test&quot;.......

I imagine some knucklehead will panic at the last second and bid $800 or so on it so you'll probably make out in the long run!.....no offense to any knucklehead who buys it for $800, you ARE getting a nice bow.

A trade you say?!!.....sounds like a Mighty Mite missing the grip or an Extreme Solo option 2 in the works!!

And you will like the Patriot, but you will still have to &quot;Bend&quot; your standards a bit for that one......weight, and 30&quot; draw. Don't count on that one giving you a 30.5&quot; draw to play with.....but if it does, a string loop and you're in!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Keep us posted........AGAIN.

Yep the PSE Nitro made me think before I ordered my new bow, the best dang PSE I have ever laid my hands on! I would say sometime this year it will hit the market harder once people check it out. about the only thing I didn't like was the brace height which was a little shorter than I like.

If you get a Pat let us know how it goes!

Thanks Frank, great honest report. The draw cycle is the main reason I chose to go with Darton over Bowtech. I am just glad mrs 5 shot let me get a new bow this year, or I would be ready to jump out of my tree stand without saftey harness after reading all these bow reports!
