Default First 3D shoot 2002

I attended my first shoot of the year today. I couldn't have asked for a better day for a Feb. shoot, 55 degrees sunny! I could have asked for a better score (273) but the nice day made up for poor shooting. Anyone else shoot today I would like to hear your scores?

Shot last Sunday. Sunny, windy, 68 degrees. I also shot 273. Must be something in the water.

I grew up in Wichita Falls. My dad was civil service at Sheppard!

I moved down here around Dallas after I got out of school some 30 years ago.

Ausie-guy, I'm member, secretary/treasurer, past editor, past president and designated flunkie of Denton County Archers. We're east of Denton off Hwy 380. Take 380 east from Denton, out across the bridges at the Trinity River and the north end of Lake Lewisville, up out of the valley and turn right at the Texaco station (Mosely Rd.) Take Mosely down till it dead ends into Tipps Rd. Left about .2 mile and the range is on the left. Quite a trek from Burleson.

The closest club to you would be Cowtown Bowmen in west Fort Worth, off Loop 820 at the Las Vegas Trail exit. That is by the joint reserve station at Lake Worth.

Not all that much further from you is Irving Bowhunters Assn in west Dallas. Loop 12 and Keeneland, take the southbound service road up to the top of the hill and you're there. I'm also a past officer at IBA (yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment) and they've got a really nice range. Lot's of uphill/downhill. Love their range!

On down I-20, close to Lancaster, take the Bonnie View exit south a couple miles and you're at Mesquite Archery Club.

Collin County used to be outside McKinney, but I hear they just had their range sold out from under them. I haven't heard whether they've found someplace new to settle. Darned shame, because it was a nice range.

That's about it for the D/FW metroplex. We've got places to shoot. Go see Ken Witt at Arlington Bowhunting World. I imagine he's got some tournament dates down there.

Also go to www.shootcentral.com

Click on 'clubs listed' and you can get shoot dates and maps to all the clubs hereabouts.

Congratulations on the fine shooting. But I have to be honest with you....I feel like somewhat of a bum compared to you guys.... a good day for me is a 270 or so out of 300, not counting the 12 ring.

I guess I need to stop jabberin' with you guys on here and get out and shoot more...
