Default yardage and paper tuning

I can get bullets around 10 yards but at less distance it tears top right. I make sure I have the same form but get the consistent tears. Any info would be great. Chris

I am not an expert, but I think at ten yards your fletching has had enough time to correct the arrow flight. try tuning at 3 feet and then back off to ten feet and see if it is the same. If its grouping good after that you should be ok.

I used to always go for the bullet hole right up close. But recently was told by a pro shooter that at 1-2 yards from the paper you want a high and away tear(right hand shooters) and that is perfect! Then at say 20 yards you will be punching bullet holes. Sure enough! I set up my bow this week that way with the high and away tear (about a 3/4" tear) and at 20 yd it is punching perfect bullet holes! As long as you get good groups with this method its the way he said to do it!

I agree, it has been my experience that if some bows just dont paper tune up close real well. The sooner the arrow stabalizes, the better, but sometimes, its just takes a little bit longer. Thats not to say that you shouldn't try and get it as close as you can up close, but I dont get too worried about a slight tear up close.

If you paper tune bullet holes at 10 yards, you should be ok.

Bloodtrail, you hit the nail on the head. I get about a 3/4" up and right tear and bullets further back. My groups are good until my shoulder gives out. I think I will keep it like this and see what happens. Thanks for the advice. Chris

Chris: Ya I would leave it alone! Sounds like your bow is shooting good! I have the same problem also! When the shoulder goes, so do the groups!! Good Luck!
