I am glad I hit the "refresh" button otherwise I would have posted the same thing as Zippernut....(I like to be informed before I buy a bow...)

Jeff,

I had to laugh when I read the last line of your post...

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Basically you can ignore my post and just read what Frank said, again

....but the fact of the matter remains that you say it so much more eloquently...

Matt,

So let me guess this straight...you put those Vibrablock thingees on your Pro38 with a set of limbsavers already installed?

...I bet that looks pretty......next thing you know you are going to want to put set of the PSE NV system "dampeners" on there too! ...no we are really talkin' ugly...

...You might as well just stick a set of those "limb fins" and the new Alpine Vibrastop on there too....then it will really look all "dolled up"!

Why do you have to wait until the end of April to get a new bow? Wife?

Matt,
I'm glad they worked for you. The check you sent is working quite nicely also. Thanks.

Wanna talk about ugly.... In a fit of boredom I decked ou my Carrera with the NV, 2 pairs of limb savers, Shock Fins, leeches, and a doinker......, but it's the quietest 320 Ive ever shot.

Hey Jeff yes I see some of your points but not all them. I have not seen any quality control issues with mathews in the last year. I am use they do happen, as they do with any company. as far as performance I have seen a lot of guys shooting mathews, PSE, Hoyt, Parker, etc. & for the most part with hunting setups most people are close to about the same average speed when tested. I have heard that the bowtechs are a little faster than the average & the double cam they have is really fast.

In reality though the patriot looks a lot like a Q series bow. I am sure some of that has to do with marketing, performance, and because the design is superior.

I wish we had a bowtech dealer here but we don't...I will say this. I have shot a lot of bows, used to work in a proshop, and I have shot hoyts, , darton, mathews, pse, parkers, XI, bear, jennings, etc. I think most of the companies are making good products this day & age. is my hoyt any better than my mathews? I would say no, is my mathews better than my hoyt? no - but it does suit my style of shooting better since it feels better to me.

In the end the main thing is to shoot what feels best to you & to shoot the bow you have faith in. if that is a bowtech then fine if it is a hoyt fine, and if it is a mathews that is fine too.

I am looking at both brochures for Mathews and Bowtech and the Q2 is rated at 308 FPS and the Patriot is rated at 312-320 FPS. So I don't understand where JeffB is getting his 15-20 FPS faster. Can he or someone else explain. Am I missing something?

Because Jeff's #'s are reality. The chance of finding a Mathews that will come close to advertised #'s are slim. I shot a Black Max last week set up strict IBO with nothing but a tied in nock and all it would do is 318.
That's a far cry from it's advertised 330+.
Situation like that are the rule rather than the exception, at least with the Mathews I've shot..............let the flames begin!

500 is right on. While the BT's will come very close they also have a tendancy to be a bit over AMO spec. Darton, Martin and Merlin are the best I've seen as they rarely come in over AMO spec draw lengths.

However, draw length to draw length, the BT's are as fast or faster than anyting out there.

Most manufacturers claim AMO draws and go way over. I've had bows from many manufacturers go 1 to 1& 1/2" AMO over their stated draw length.

Mathews measures their bows to the front of the riser, always have... not by AMO spec.

My Q2XL w/ 29" cam came in at almost 30" and would not break 290 FPS let alone 300 FPS at 5 grains. My Q2 w/ 28" cam is a bit over AMO at 28 5/8". Some are better than others..My Z max was over an inch long, as was my MQ32, and my first Conquest.

My Hoyts have been running about 1/2" to 3/4" over as well for the past 2 years

I haven't bought many other bows than those 3 brands in awhile (Hoyt, Mathews, and BT).

The 2000 model BT's were about 3/4 to 1" long. The 2001's about 3/8 to 1/2". My new PAtriot is dead on 29"AMO w/ 29" mod when set to 65% letoff. At the factory 75-80% it runs close 29.5" AMO. The most variance in their speed bows (BK, ES, etc.)
