I wish I had a dealer in the area where I could shoot one.

If you want to keep that Hoyt, I suggest that you wish for NO BT dealers in your area!!

Frank,

Heavy?? Geeezzz..I'll have to send you my Defiant to shoot..then get back to me..

If you really want the shorter bow..go w/ the Patriot, and shoot the riser: it's a very well contoured low wrist grip ( a bit too low for my tastes, but nothing I could not get used to). I shot my MM a bit yesterday w/out the grip, and was not unhappy w/ my results whatsoever. You will pick up about 3/8" of draw length (and brace height)..slap a loop on, give yourself a bit of time to get used to the loop, and I believe you will be one-happy camper.

If you really want a 31" draw length bow..the 2002 Pro38/G3.2 in the option 2 riser (7" brace) would be hard to beat, and my choice over the ES opt 2 due to the riser and limb angles(less recoil).

EDIT: Fixed the smileys to Frank's expectations..

I agree with Jeff, Frank. Shoot the loop with the grip off, and you'll be a happy camper.

Thanks for the info guys and congrats on the new bow Hotlz.....if I went the Patriot route then it would be with your exact setup.....which kind of shoots that down because I like to be different...

Jeff,

As far as "heavy" goes...I have already worked out plans to obtain one of my old bows..an XI Paragon from a buddy of mine....The way I figure it, if I shoot that bow for awhile then the Bowtech will feel like a feather...

I am going to wait and see when I have each bow side by side before making any decisions. Thanks again.

I'm in shock. Franks buying something other than a Hoyt. Will you be having a going out of Hoyt sale?Whats the real reason for the switch pal? Tired of the Tech risors? Reduction in speed got you down? What did you think of the new Mathews?

nub,

Go check out Rochelle's post on this forum regarding "getting a new bow" and you will see why I am going to try something different.

No, I wasn't tired of the TEC risers. Actually, the Havoctec is only the second Hoyt TEC riser bow that I have ever owned. The "reduction in advertised IBO speed" had me down a bit when the bows were first introduced, but, in reality, I think the speeds were actually more realistic this year than in past years....folks could actually get or come close to the advertised IBO speed even if they weren't shooting exact IBO specs...otherwise how would you explain the fact that my Havoctec Versa shot about as fast as my Havoc Redline even though it had a 10 fps slower advertised IBO rating? (hypothetical).

The Mathews that they had in the shop were the 2001 models not the new 2002 lineup. I don't think they are out yet. But, there is nothing stopping me from picking one up if they fit my specs.......heck, I never thought I would see the day when my current bow cost more than a Mathews...
