Default Problems with the .019 Copper John pins

I returned a Cobra easy slide to Archery Experts in return for a Copper John Dead Nuts Pro, but I wanted the .019 pins instead of the .029 pins that the 04's come with. The rep from AE told me he would special order the sight for me, but after a week I still didn't receive my sight so I called today and he said Copper John is having problems with the .019 pins breaking for no reason and they would not send out any sights with the .019 pins attached. But if I really wanted them, I could call Copper John direct and they would send me the .019 pins in exchange for the .029's. I do remember someone on here saying that they had problems with the pins breaking. Are the really that bad? Maybe I'll try the .029's until Copper John comes up with an new design. Anyone have any experience with the .019's?

I have never had a .019 CJ pin break. A few fibers have broken when adjusting or removing pins. I've gotten two new CJ sights lately with .019 pins. Both Pro IIIs. The .029 pins are better for hunting, IMO. They're brighter and tougher.

Its not real hard to break the .029 fibers either. On any site. I have some .019s on order. My CJ came with the 29s. Breaking fiber optics is just the cost of useing them.

I had a 0.019" pin break while at the range on a C/J III. I thought vibration may have something to do with it so I added a couple mini Limbsavers to the sight - don't know if they made a difference. I called C/J and they're sending a a replacement and some extras for free. Good service from my point of view, even with the broken pin.

I shoot a CJ Dead Nuts Pro with .019 pins. Haven't had any problems with a few hundred shots so far!

902, I had problems last month shooting outdoors with .019 breaking. I had three straight pin fibers break just from shooting. I thought it had something to do with the cold temps. So when I called CJ to see if it was just me they said they where having trouble with the straight pins and fiber breaking and are working on a solution. The other off set fibers seem to be Ok. They sent me some pins and replacement fibers. I also added a amall limbsaver to the sight. So far they been holding up. I've use .019 on my HTM sight with no problems so it might be the shortness of the fibers that cause the problems. They're also coming out with a flip up cover. That will solve the problem with brush breaking the fibers. Jerry
