I own a 2003 patriot single cam set at 65 pounds. I'm shooting a 370 grain arrow at around 270fps.

unfortunetly i'm a shorty! only got a 27 inch draw length. My first question is , If I maxed my bow out, I would probably get around 280fps( 65-66 KE)
is this bow fit to take on large game?? such as elk and moose??
Secondly If it isn't fit for such large game , I need a bow that will persue large game such as moose and elk for next season. Can I build my bow somehow to beable to take larger game , If not I want to stay with the Bowtech line , so what bow could I build to get my expectations of high Ke and good speed with a small draw length of 27 inches.

Your bow is just fine for any big game in No. America. Your current setup gives you 60 ft-lbs of Energy & that is just fine. The only thing I would say is to watch broadhead design & go for something that isn't mechanical on anything bigger than deer.

Your bow is a Whitetail killing machine! Way more than enough! For big game like Elk or Moose, its just fine, just as the previous post says......don't use mechanicals (except for maybe a Rocky Mountain Snyper).

Go with a heavier arrow, maybe try the new Axis shaft from Easton which is a small diameter shaft with good weight. Also maybe a new skinning knife and make some more friends that are in good condition for packing out heavy hind quarters

The Patriot will be fine for anything you want to take.

But if you are in a quest for more speed then all I can say is 2 words.

I have a 28" draw and my BK set at 60lbs does the following.
314gr arrow 312 fps 68lbs KE
376gr arrow 288 fps 69lbs KE
400gr arrow 280 fps 70Lbs KE

The lower brace of the BK should not be much of a problem in your draw lenght.
