Thanks guys. So the key is tie the knot in the second picture on both ends and make sure that everything is very tight.

In my experience if I put the nots oppossing each other instead of on the same side the loop will not spin on the string. by putting the nots opposing each other they bite the string and will not spin. just my 2 cents.
