Default Axel to Axel length

I shoot a mathews sq2, i was measuring the axel to axel so i have a reference to see if the cable streches later. The bow is supposed to measure 31 inches and it measures 31 1/16. Has anyone measured a new bow that has been off, i mean is it normal or do i already have strech. THanks

To be honest with you I would not be overly concerned with 1/16th of an inch difference in axle to axle length. To give you an example why, where exactly are you measuring from/to...the middle of each axle?...the outside edge of each axle?...the inside edges? Do you see what I mean?

You should take your string and cable off and make sure they are exactly the right length (under tension). Then take your ata measurement to use for future reference. Just measure it the same way each time.

I'm pretty sure Mathews would call 1/16" to be within design tolerances. It's when you start seeing 1/2" or more that you need to start thinking about adjusting string/cable lengths.

Once you get all tuned up, be sure you also check and record your brace height, nockset location and the distance from your nockset to your peep. Having those numbers recorded will make things much easier and quicker when it's time to retune the bow.

nothing to worry about! 1/16 isn't much at all

I have seen them as much as 1/4"over but still nothing to worry about
However if you are really particular like me you can put a few extra twists in the string and harness to ger it on the money

Yes, a 1/16" is nothing and I usually don't get concerned untill I see a 1/4" difference.Record the numbers, shoot the bow and enjoy.

A brand new string will creep more during the initial shots, then at any other time. It will depend on how the string was made, when determining how much creep will occur. I make my strings 1/16" to 1/8" short (depending on length of string), in anticipation of this initial movement. After this movement occurs, I don't expect to see more then 1/16" of string creep over the next 6 months of shooting. By checking your ata once each month, you'll know if your string is creeping.
