Jeffb,
I know the feeling. I've been tyring to get a Patriot ordered for 2 weeks now and it is my dealer's fault, not Bowtech's at all. My dealer will call and leave a message (the salesmen are terribly busy with all of the shows this time of year), and when they get a chance to call him back he's never there. It's a vicious cycle. I think the 3 hour time difference plays a part in them missing each other. What can you do? I guess I'll have to be a little more patient. It's not one of my best attributes though.

500 fps. Dealers can also Fax or email orders in as well. If the 3 hr. time difference makes a difference to your dealer ask him to try these other methods. If they have any questions about his order they will contact him and will probably contact him when they receive the order anyways.

JeffB, I shoot off the bare riser, I just like it better than with a grip. Not sure which grip the Patriot you shot had on it but your right it may have been the grip manufacturers goof.

Matt/Pa, LMAO

I did the Michigan Deer and Turkey spectacular shooting booth and the results were really cool. I wish I had a tape recorder of the remarks after the first shot from the Patriot. One fellow shot it three times and his remarks were Maaann, WOW and Maann thats nice. It was like that all weekend. People just can't believe the bow shoots so smooth. All I could hear standing beside them was the rest twang a little. Can't tell you how many times I could have sold the demo bow, I had people beg me to sell it to them and I told them I would get in trouble and guess what their remarks were? So, you can get another one...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

I don't have any trouble shooting either Mathews, or Hoyt at &quot;thirty inches&quot;. With the patriot, what length would be equivalent, and what kind of adjustibility is provided?

Has anyone heard the P shot in comparison to the new Mathews bows which have built in string silencers and the vibration system? What is the comparable sound?

Thanks.

While I didn't get to shoot the Patriot, I did get to draw one a couple of times. I was VERY impressed with the construction and finish of the bow. But I concur with JeffB, the grip is the pits - it reminded me of those horrible old Mathews grips. One can only hope that Bowtech will listen to the complaints and put on a narrower grip (Hoyt's grip is perfect, IMHO). For what Bowtech's bows cost, you shouldn't have to pay for a custom grip as well.

Bowtech Shooter - how much does the brace height on the 2002 Pro riser bows change when you remove the grip and shoot off of the bare riser? Would it affect the draw length you would need?

I too shoot all mine off the bare riser. The BH changes roughly 1/4&quot;-3/8&quot; (the thickness of the grip). I have never measured it to know for sure. I just adjust my draw length accordingly. Shrewd is beginning to make their competition grips for the Bowtech models too. All mine will be sporting them when they become available.

I feel that the grip is an issue that can't be fixed. That's what separates a lot of different bow brands. All bow companies have their own style/design some like it some don't. I do a lot of shows with the BowTech line and believe me there are a lot more people that really like them compared to those who don't. I used to work at a rather large pro shop that sold nine bow lines, people would ask me constantly whats the best bow you have and my reply would always be, the one that feels best in your hand is where you start. So I guess my question is how do you make a grip that EVERYBODY likes? Is it possible? Personally I shoot without my grip because I like the feel of the bare riser vs. the factory grip but I really don't think the design is all that bad that I feel they should change it. With my grip on my 29&quot; Pro 38 my draw length is 28 7/8&quot; and without the grip it draws 29 1/8&quot;. It's been almost a year since I took these measurments and I believe they are correct.

Well I finally got my hands on the Patriot also...I shot a 29&quot; draw bow at 68 lbs with 342 grain arrows. Two brass nocks on the string and nothing else. 299.3 fps was the reading the chrono gave.

I didn't mind the heft of the riser, and I could live with the beefy grip. But I would be less than truthful if I said that it was as quiet and shock free as the Q2, Q2XL, or the Cybertec's that I have shot. Perhaps I expected more due to all of the positive hype that I have been hearing. Yes I realize it went 10-16 fps faster than the Hoyt or Mathews but I don't feel the trade off is worth it for me personally. I might also reiterate that for some reason I may be more sensitive to hand shock than most people and that certainly plays a role in my analysis of any bow.

Don't get me wrong, it is a fine bow, and I'm certainly not trying to rain on anyones parade or take a shot at BowTech. Everyone is different, what one person finds attractive another might abhor. BowTech seems to be an up and coming company making high performance quality bows, it just wouldn't be my first choice at this time.

P.S. All death threats should be addressed to Antler eater via my email addy. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
