Default Shot Cybertec next to my MQ1

Mathews has 29" draw set to 57lbs, 1 inch overdraw shooting 27" carbon arrow. Shot 243 fps. Shot Cybertec set to 60lbs, 29" draw, stock pos rest, with 29" junk arrow and was shooting 266fps. My MQ1 did have cut cat whiskers, peep sight w/ tubing and string release loop. Obviously there are minor differences between the two bows but
23fps is quite a bit of speed diff.

Cybertec was really smooth and quiet. I liked shooting the Cybertec and could really tell that my MQ1 was not up-to-technology date. Next test will be shooting MQ1 along side the MQ2.

Dealer wants $629 for Hoyt but they do all setup and testing along side you for no charge. That value add service is definitely worth something. Think that is still to much money?

Local shop in my area is selling cybertec for $659.00. I paid $561.00 for mine from another shop out of state. With shipping total of $581.00, where as local shop with state tax would have been $700.00. Would rather have bought at local shop....but $120.00 buys alot more stuff!

dhacker,

In reference to the speed difference....as you stated, the MQ1 had rubber cat whiskers on the string as well as a rubber tubing type peep sight and it was also set for a 3 lb lighter draw weight. Each of those string accessories could reduce arrow speed by as much as 7-8 fps depending on string position and overall weight. The 3 lb lighter draw weight would account for roughly a 5 fps slower arrow speed. Add all that up and you would get roughly 21 fps in difference....

...just something to think about. If you want to really do a comparison then ditch the rubber tubing peep and the cat whiskers and bump the draw weight up to 60 lbs. There might be a slight difference but I would be willing to be that it isn't more than 4-5 fps...tops.

I am not trying to convince you "out of" a Cybertec but other than the quieter more vibration free design of the TEC riser I don't think there is that much practical difference between the two bows when it comes to kinetic energy, arrow speed or overall trajectory patterns.

I paid 600.00 for my CyberTech. And mine was setup and papertuned before I was done no cost.My dealer even gave me that restplate to make all rests fit the riser. Tell them to include that and 629.00 is a good deal.

I have paid more than I should have before for the sake of customer service.

dhacker, if you want to compare apples to apples then you might want to shoot the q2 or the sq2 next to the cybertec. But Frank explained the speed difference better than I could have.

Always adding Deer Cam picts. Check often.

DHacker-
In reality you will find when compared equally the two bows will perform almost exactly the same. The Mathews is actually considerably more efficient, but the Hoyt has more string time which is why they share identical IBO speed ratings.

When setup the same the performance will be equal.

Just for giggles I ran the numbers in "The Archery Program". I used a Beman ICS400 for the Mathews and predicted 243 f/s. That arrow weighed 407 grains.
Then I ran the CyberTec with a Goldtip 3555 which weighed 360 grains, and came up with 266 f/s.

Just to be curious what arrows did you use? If for no other reason I would like to know to check it with the program.

The CyberTec is an excellent bow, I'm getting one too to match my UltraTec, and for hunting.

Happy Shooting!

27" out of MQ1 was a Gold Tip 5575 XT hunter graphite. I had two arrows with & the one did fly 243fps. 100 grain field tip.

I think the other arrow was a Carbon Express but it had ripped plastic vanes & bent arrow.

Using the Carbon Express 300 Yielded 266 f/s out of the CyberTec. The Goldtip 5575 out of the MQ1 without all the string accessories would have been around 258 f/s. Those are actually pretty closely matched arrows.
PABowhntr hit the nail on the head regarding string accessories. A rubber tube generaly reduces speed about 8-10 f/s a peep drops it another 3-6 f/s etc.

I still maintain that these particular two bows will perform almost identical when compared side by side with all major varibles being equal.

Happy Shooting!
