MAtt,

I suspect since a LS works on only one side of the limb, that is why you get the best performance from them at the anarowest point of the limb as the vibration travels down it from thr limb tips (natural funnel).

The VibraBlock on the other hand surrounds the entire limb, and is probably "cutting it off at the head of the pass".

Jeff that makes sense.....I'll know more tomorrow....I plan some tests. Like, Short Whiskers, vs. plain string vs. BowTech's silencers for speed and effectiveness.
And also....No limbasavers,Vibrablock, and then both together....should be interesting.

And for anyone out there, that "Sweet Spot" I mentioned for the Limbsavers was on a BowTech Mighty Mite.....it may vary quite a bit on other bows.

Ok here's the "Skinny" on the new BowTech Silencing stuff.......I played around a bit today with them

#1). Cable Guard dampener.....looks better than SIMS version. That's about all I can say cause I can't tell if either brand is doing a darn thing.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I'll leave it on.

#2) String Silencers......They were no improvement at all that I could hear over a nicely cut Catwhisker set-up, but they are lighter and slimmer , and don't rob as much speed.
I shot a 350gr arrow at 65# with no silencers on my last trip at 318fps.
I shot a 343gr arrow (didn't bring a 350gr'r for this trip<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>).....at 65# this time with the new silencers at 316-317. SO it appears that speed loss is only about 2-3fps tops with these(if I run em' high near the cams it's almost 0fps loss)
.......I'm a nitwit and forgot to chrono the same arrow with whiskers but I'm sure they are heavier and slower.
So I guess I like em'.......they'll stay. Durability will be watched colsely.
String Leeches I think work a bit better (hard to really tell for sure), but it's that close who really cares.......they should last longer than leeches with similar performance.
Like em' so far.

#3) &quot;Vibrablock&quot; limb dampeners.....I'll keep you posted on these. I wussed out on putting them on.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Ausie.....I'm sure they will work well on your Patriot, as well as ANY bow. That bow is going to be so smooth however that it's not going to be a dramatic change......but it will help(it has to even if you can't really quantify it).

The only noise and vibration I was getting from the Patriot was from string twang.....and that's it. A good set of light silencers like these new BowTech ones or the SIMS &quot;String Leeches&quot; will do the trick
EVERY bow has string twang that's just a fact.....

The Vibrablock limb dampeners of BowTech's will at the very least take away what little limb vibration there is(nothing makes it to your hand, but there has to be some)......it's going to be hard to notice a difference in noise it's that quiet.
My philosophy is that it can only help so why not right?
Limbsavers will do the same thing, but BowTechs cannot come off, so that's a plus.

And like I said......I put the cable guard dampener on fully expecting not to even notice it, and I couldn't......that's exactly the results I had with the ugly SIMS ones. The BowTech version looks pretty cool so I'll keep it on!!

I WAS really trying to be unbiased......if I don't like something I'll be the first to tell everyone believe me!

Weatherby460, I can send you a pic if you like. At least I think I still have one brochure left. I just got home from the Mich. Deer and Turkey show and got swamped at the booth and gave away all my brochures by 2:00 Sat. afternoon, again sorry to those that I couldn't give on to.

Matt/PA, Try to put your string silencers 2&quot; from the idler and the cam and then chrono it. They don't dampen quite as well that far out but don't lose any speed. If you move them in they dampen better but have some speed loss.

BTS.....Thanks, but I already noticed that. When I ran them very high near the cams speed loss was MAYBE 1fps. You are right the don't dampen as well there......the string is a little twangy.
I'll split the difference and take a 2fps hit, that's still better than whiskers.
