Can a string stop be slightly off center?
I am totally new to archery.
I purchases a used Pse Nova bow that has a string stop. I suspect the stop is aftermarket. It has a round face.
When completely centered with the bow string, I can just barely see the top sight pin and for all practical purposes, nothing behind the sight.
Is it ok to adjust the stop so the string is slightly off center on the stop face? It makes it easier to see the sight pin.
I'm yet to shoot the bow.

I'll have to see about a picture. I need to learn the posting.
What is immediately evident is that this string stop is much different than yours. Mine attaches to the other bar in your picture (the one above the grip).
This diagram is calling that piece the cable guard.

in terms of what I'm thinking of doing, the off center string would look like this on the face of the stop:

After reading that thread a little more closely, they seem to be ok with it.

Gotcha...
Cable guard, cable stay, whatever...
I've seen that type of string stop, and yeah, that's a big downside to them that they block the sights.
As long as you don't have risk of your string "slipping" past the stringstop, no worries.

If you want more sight visibility you can get a string decelerator on line. Here is one place: http://www.amazon.com/Limbsaver-3752...string+stopper
This will mount in your stabilizer hole with an adapter to still install a stabilizer if desired.

Thanks, guys.
At his point, the big thing is learning the fundamentals of archery.
I rigged up a target yesterday and took a few minutes this afternoon to do a little practice. There is hope of hitting at 20 yards.
