The Nikons are hard to beat in that price range, IMO. Very clear, durable and a great warranty. My brother uses them, I use the Leupold Wind River. Can' t go wrong either way. Unless you want to spend a ton of money you are on the right track.

I got the Nikon ATB' s about a month ago. Great Binocs! Can' t say anything bad about them. I just don' t think there is enough difference for the 800 dollar price difference for the Leupold or other high end glass.

Don' t overlook Pentax. One of the greatest glasses on the market for the price. I finally broke down last year and bought a pair swarvoski 10x42' s and haven' t looked back. Everyone that touchs them immediately fall in love!

If you have a K' s merchandise near you, check out the Minolta binocs they carry. I picked up a pair of 8x40 that are as crystal clear as those costing many many more dollars, for $70. I' m not kidding, I thought for sure they were priced wrong, they were so much better than the others from Nikon, etc. They' re a steal.

But, right now I' ve got these on my mind-

Not sure of the glass quality, but love the concept.

I just purchased the Wind River Cascade model.
I got them from Bass-Pro for $249.00.
I compared them to Nikon' s and the Bushnell' s.
For me, they were really clear and bright with no edge distortion.
Done deal.
