Default Bowtech Shooter or others with Dual Cam Patriots...

Just out of curiousity, what is the expected FPS of a 70# 28" draw Pat Dually with only a nock set on the string pushing a 500 grain arrow? 350 grain arrow?

Trying to see how far behind the curve I am. I' m thinking maybe not too far...

With a 500 gr. arrow, it should be around 234-240 fps.

With a 350 gr. arrow, it should be around 307-315 fps.

Wow... My hornet with the same set up will push the 500 grain at 250fps, the 350 grain 294...

Another indicator that cam design is being tweaked to promote light arrow fps...

Any chance Bowtech will come out with a hunting bow designed to get the absolute most energy out of a 6-7 grain per pound hunting arrow?

Up until I started playing with my Chrony a few weeks ago, I always thought that as IBO specs increased, AMO type would as well, but it sure doesn' t seem to be the case. Blows my mind...

Bowtech uses very conservative fps loss per grn of weight calculations. If these are the numbers BTS used I would be willing to bet the Dual cam will spit out that 500 grn arrow faster than what he stated.

Just based on my limited experience with that bow

I would agree with Rack, especially since I am getting 240 with a 510 gr. arrow with my 60# Pro 38 DC, as well as a hybrid bow that uses Oregon Black Knight cams. The Pro 38 is using the 28" modules and the grip removed, and the hybrid is a 29" draw.

No, but check this out. 9it' s a mighty mite, so it kinda counts)

I refletched 3 of my arrows with duravanes, which lowered my total arrow weight from 438 to 426. I then shot some through the chrony. Not too shabby at 268 fps 65# pull 29.5" draw. I noticed my lower string leach was walking up the string, so I put the bow in my press, and lowered the leech all the way to within .5" of the lower serving. I then placed a black (smaller than normal, don' t know where I got it) black nock above the leech to stop it from creeping. Back over to the chrony to see what kind of speed I just lost- 273, 271, 272. I didn' t loose, I gained!!

If that' s correct it puts me at 70 ft/lbs!! (if my chonys lying, please don' t tell me!!)

After this revelation I screwed on a slick trick and stepped back to 30 yards. 1" to the left. I then shot a marden mini-max, dead bull. Had to go in as it was getting dark.

Wrecked my 4 wheeler yesterday while returning to camp after putting my stealth cam back out. So no I' m layed up with a bum leg[&o], at least it' s not broke!! (thank God!!). Spent 3.5 hours at the emergency room yesterday.
Gotta go get back on the couch with the ice packs!! Ohhhh my aching body

RB,

Yeah I' d say Pat is being pretty conservative.

My DC40 at 28" , 60 pounds shot a 416 grain arrow at 263. which would put it close to the speeds Pat listed for a 70 pound bow w/ a 500 grain arrow. And the Pat dually is a few FPS faster than the DC40.

I' d say you would be looking at about a 12-15 FPS increase in speed vs. your current set-up.
