Best bow for the buck?
This probably has been beat to death but I am thinking about getting into bowhunting again and with all the new bows out and with there high prices I would like to know what everyone thinks is the best overall bow for the buck. I would use it for tree stand and ground hunting and it would need to have a long draw (31" If I had to choose between forgiving and speed, I'll take forgiving, so would cam setup make a difference (single over twin)?

I think the PSE Thunderbolt is one of the best bows for the money anywhere. You get a bow under 4 lbs and a 7" brace height and a IBO rating of 300 fps for about $300. Draw lengths are available from 27-31" on this bow.

I like 3D's suggestion from the PSE lineup. The Nova, in its various forms, also is worthy of consideration. Personally, I like the Beast with the Synergy Pro cams on it. You can get package deals on it for under $300.
If you would have asked me this last year then I probably would have suggested the MTSport with the Versacam. But, the price went up slightly and the speed went down (Versacam model). You might take a look at the Command Cam Plus model of the bow though. It still has decent speed and the bow is now priced around $250 or so.
Browning had some decent, inexpensive bows last year as well. The Tornado, Ambush 80 and Mirage 33 instantly come to mind.
All of the bows I listed came in a 31 inch draw length and the most expensive was around $330.

I have to agree that PSE's low-end offerings are tough to beat. The Thunderbolt and Diamondback II, which are pretty similar are very nice bows for around $350.00. I like both of these better than many of the bows selling for twice that much.
They may not be the most innovative company these days, but they're pretty solid with what they do.

In addition,
Hoyt Magnatec ZR or XT
Martin makes several including the Phantom,Panther, and Jaguar.
Pearson/McPherson has a few models like the 440.
Bowtech's Stalker
Although they earned themselves a bad rap early on, the Buckmaster 2000 is a good shooter, and built better in recent years.
Mathews FX is not bad either, but goes over $400 in my area, so I wouldn't say it's a true "budget" bow.

Shot an Onieda for 8 years, nice bow, smooth shooting, a little loud. Before that I shot a Martin recurve before that a marting warthog magnum compound and before that a Jennings model K kit bow. Last weekend I shot a FireBrand Technology Intensity smoothest quietest bow I've ever shot, 29.5 draw length 400 grain arrow 262feet per second. nothing to the bow, it's a compound bow, no cams or pully's 5 year unconditional warranty only $350.00
