If you have to take a hunting shot at more than 15 or 20 yards then you' re not hunting close enough to your feeder or bait pile.

You missed the point. In many states bait piles and feeders are illegal. Bow hunting is done the hard way.

My max is 25 yards and we do hunt mule deer on foot. Honestly, in the area we hunt 99% of the shot opportunities that we have had were 30 yards and usually much less. Could have shot one at about 4 ft. last year, but couldn' t get my bow through all the brush and wasn' t sure what affect poking just 1/2 the arrow through would have on the shot!
