Gold Tip's weight system for arrows?
Wondering if anyone has tried adding the adapter weights to their Gold Tip's? Is it as simple as it looks?
I'm currently shooting 55/75 Hunter XT's with a arrow length of 26" (my draw is only 27"...my final arrow weight is 365 gr. w/a 100 gr. broadhead. I'd like to get my arrow weight up around 410-415 gr. while still using a 100 gr. head. My current bow is a Jennings Buckmaster Lite, w/the PWC cam...set at 68 lbs. w/an arrow speed of 252 fps. BUT...I'm planning on getting a new bow sometime soon (Parker Ultra Lite 31 or 35)<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle> I don't have any complaints or problems other than I'd like to be getting a bit more kinetic energy(I'm around 51 ft/lbs now) and thinking a bit heavier arrow would help...with the addition of the new bow. I like my Gold Tip's and really don't want to change arrows. I may go elk hunting next fall...how much KE is recommended (100 gr Thunderhead or Wasp Hammer SST)? Could use some advice...maybe I'm looking to fix something that ain't broke...thanks.

RE: Gold Tip's weight system for arrows?
on gold tips home page it says 50 ft lb for elk
I shoot the same arrow as you but mine are slightly longer due to a 28" draw
my arrows are 377 grains but I do shoot a little faster at 260 with a 60lb draw weight.
I think you could be like me and try feathers rather than plastic vains
but all in all I think you should be able to bring down an Elk with the set up the way it is now
as to the thunderhead or wasp I dont know I use muzzy's maybe some one else can help you there
but I would not be fooling around with the arrows in case they become unbalanced

Personally I like to add sprayer hose or weight tubes. You don't have to take the insert out and all. You could also get a few 75/95s and put 125 grain heads on them.
