for any given bow set up easton generaly gives choices for what aluminum shaft is ideal. Im in the process of setting up my browning eclips slx, and i can go two ways, either the traditional narrower shaft with a thick wall (22/16) or something wider and thinner (23/15 or 24/13). Anyhow i hear the general trend nowadays is to go with the wider arrows. What do people on this board prefer?

My personal choice would be to go with the heavier thicker wall arrow. In my case I shoot 2613, I have tried the 2419 (similar in spine), but for my setup the 2613 has a little stronger spine and works better. I am going to explore the possibility on inserting a shaft within a shaft soon, but I am having a hard time gathering info on that. I do know of people that have sucessfully done that though.
My reasons for the smaller shaft would be:
1. It will be stronger with the increased wall size
2. It would have better penetration properties

The target guys like to use fat shafts for their line cutting abilities , a fatter shaft will hit more of the target . Most hunters like small diamiter shafts because they penitrate better and if your arrow passes all the way through a game animal it has 2 holes to bleed from makeing for an easy trail to follow .
