Default Cat whiskers?

When you all install cat whiskers, do you perfer them to be through the bow string or just tied to the outside of the string?

Is there any difference between the two that you can tell?

The guy I had work on my bow last just tied them to my string. Now the bottom whisker is coming loose and it is almost all gone. It didn't seem to be any louder until it started getting loose, now there is a little more string noise. I am thinking I can go and buy some dacron string and whiskers and just tie them on myself as good or better than he did.

I love em on my trad bows. I only put them thru the bundles and tie them with fast flight material.
