Thanks for the tips guys. After a few failed attempts, I got it working now. Leaving extra space between the clamp and the base of the vane helped a bunch. Also, I found that I needed to apply a lot more pressure to get good contact than I had to with aluminum. I think because of the smaller diameter on carbons, the right edge, and top portion of the vane wasn't getting proper contact without the extra pressure.
