Default Mod screw stripped and stuck

For some reason the mod screws on my bowtech get so tight no matter loose or tight I tighten them. I think it has to do with steel screw in contact with aluminum module. On my lower cam, one of my mod screws was so tight (even after letting some WD40 soak into the screw) that my allen wrench got torqued into a spiral and eventually something gave and the screw stripped.

How should I go about getting the screw out? Does anyone have any experience with ez-out drill bits?

Any ideas?

P.S.....Does anyone know the standard size of the mod screws so that I can replace them with stainless steel heads?

Thanks

I have used EZ Outs with a lot of success but never on something that small.

The small EZ Outs are easy to snap as they are very hard but brittle so if you get any sideways preasure on them they will snap.

Usually you drill a hole in the screw and then insert the EZ Out and winding it in pulls out the screw. With the mod screws being so small in diameter and also shallow I think it could be a difficult one.

Good luck!

I would first try a metric allen wrench to see if it will fit the stripped screw. If that doesn't work, you might try removing the screw with a prick punch,I am assuming a flathead screw.(Hoyt had this issue a few years ago and quit using flatheads, people just don't know how not to overtighten them).

If all else fails, might have to drill the head off.BUT,if you are not comfortable and confident with this kind of stuff, get a qualified person or send it back to the factory, chances are, they will warranty it.

Yea, I might have to contact bowtech. I don't want to attempt anything that will ruin my cam then I am out more money.

I think I'll try the ez out route and if that doesn't work then I'll have it done professionally.

Thanks guys

If it is a flathead, you don't need an easy out.If you are already going to drill, you might as well drill the hat off.Just check what size the screw is and drill it that size through the allen head. When it breaks through, the flathead will just pop off and then you will be able to remove the screw by hand.
