I shoot a darton rampage at 63# @ 31.5" and had a friend make me a set of S4 12 strand cables & string. the bow now sounds and feels noisier. could it be the material (all he had) or the no. of strands. and if no. of strands, how many should he go up. 2 or 4 ? ![Frown](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)

I am unfamiliar with S4, but 12 strands seems pretty reasonable. I believe S4 is a low stretch material. This may be the reason for the added noise. Its lighter, and less forgiving than your old string was. I noticed a tad bit of added noise when I switched to Winners Choice strings last season.
Do you have any accesoreis on the string? They may cause noise too.
Just a thought

Anytime I' ve used S4 it has seemed noisier. I quit using it as things I' ve seen lead me to think it is a more " brittle" material, meanng that when it goes it goes. I did use S4 and never had any problems with it so don' t know any of this as fact (my disclaimer). You probrably can' t g to 14 or more strans as it should make too big a diameter on the finished string to fit into the cam groove. If I remember right 10 strand is often recommended using S4 due to the strand thickness.
