Hi,
After years of wanting to learn how to bow hunt, I finally made the leap and got a new bow package. The only thing I'm bummed about is since the sight was already on the bow, I didn't get any literature on how to adjust it. Cripes, I don't even know what kind it is! I do know it's got 3 pins. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
When I'm at about 10-12 yds I can group my shots really well using the top pin, but as I get further away and using the next pin down, I'm hitting low and to the left. If I aim at the top right corner of my target, I hit the center mark that I'm actually trying to hit. My hunch is that I can adjust the second pin to compensate and get my shots to land where I'm aiming, but I'm not sure how to do it. It looks like it can be moved up/down with a hex wrench, which will fix the height, but what about the left/right? Is that something I just compensate in my shot, or should I be able to move the pin so it'll be on the mark? I'll apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge about all this. As my name says, I'm a "neubie". Thanks for your time, it's appreciated.
Best Regards,
neubie

neubie, the second pin should move up and down to adjust elevation. Move the pin down to compensate. The rule is follow the arrow with the pin. If you hit high, move the pin up. If you hit low, move it down. Hit right, move right. Most sights adjust windage (left, right) by moving the pins as a gang, all together. I you hit left with the second pin there are a couple of possibilities. The pins are not lined up within the pin guard, the sight is crooked on the bow, or you are canting the bow (not holding verticle). Are you grouping arrows with the second pin? How far left are you hitting compared to when using the top pin? Depending on how far left you are, it could be a tuning issue, also. More info is needed.

Your bow needs to be tuned! Get some good proshop help, its really worth the money. After you've gone through the process you'll understand just how important it is. Just because you hit a spot doesn't mean you set-up is working right. The first deer you shoot your arrow could have very limited penetration.
Good Luck!
