RE: Mathews Icon????
BOWFANATIC - it is an awsome bow. I have one for 3-D & Indoor & it is a first class bow. very little hand shock, quiet, smooth, and a pleasure to shoot. for hunting I tend to still like the Q2XL a little better but the Icon is the real deal if you want a great bow ffor paper punching...it wouldn't be bad at all for smacking deer either!

RE: Mathews Icon????
Thanks OB! Just curious , why dont you hunt with the Icon? The specs are pretty close to the Q2XL minus a few fps. I've been having problems with my shoulder lately and figured I would try to find something for both hunting and 3d that draws smooth. I cannot find a more smoother drawing bow than the Icon. It shoots great also! The only thing I dont like is the grip but I can customize the stock grip.
One other question , I've heard alot of talk about Mathews limb pockets , their new and improved for 2003. Is this something I should be leary of? Should I purchase a 2003 Icon for this reason? I could probably get a better deal on a 2002 but I wont bother if this is a big deal.

RE: Mathews Icon????
I had one for a brief time.
Pros: The quietest bow I've heard in years, Super smooth draw. Very accurate.
Cons: Felt "clunky" i.e. didn't balance well for me. I've heard some folks say they got good speed out of theirs but I never could(not that it was designed for speed anyway). Like all Straightline type cams the valley is too sensitive for my tastes.
Personally I think the Rival Pro was the better bow for the application it and ICON are geared towards.
