How durable would a 225 gr arrow be? Hit a bone, will it hold up? I'll bet at 30 yds that arrow would be about useless.

Well I beg to differ. Having had one of those carbon risers explode on me while the bow was just laying there, I disagree. Yes I mean a brand new caron riser with less than 100 shots on the bow, the riser literally exploded into two different pieces about 2 inches below the top limb bolt. Not cracked but snapped and flew in to two seprate pieces. I made them send me a brand new aluminum 4Runner which I immediately sold. The only reason I bought one in the first place was because I liked the idea of the carbon riser. After, my difficulties I called all the dealers in Memphis (the largest city in Tennesses the state HCA is based in) and no one carried HCA any longer because there customer service was so bad. Same thing in Little Rock (the largest city in Arkansas). However, dealers in both cities told me of reports of the carbon risers exploding!

Lets face it speed sells.HCA is missrepresenting the speed of the bow by not using IBO standards.I'm sure there are some speed bows out there that will get close to 400 fps with a 3 grain/lb arrow.Everybody needs a niche to get market share.For Mathews it was the solocam.Bowtech has also used speed as a marketing tool.I know the BK2 was tested at the ATA and only shot 330 at 29&quot; vs the 340-350 they claim.Maybe the 29&quot; vs 30&quot; was the difference.Although I thought this speed was claimed at 29&quot;.I have nothing against HCA.I used to shoot a supreme years back.It was a good bow.I just think there lastest claim is a lame attempt to get publicity.Please lets don't get into one of these juvenile manufacturer bashing contests.I will admit speed is a consideration when buying a bow.Especially with my short draw length.But speed at all costs is a waste of time.I would like to shoot the new Bowtech vft and patriot.If it's as smooth and shootable as legacy or lx and faster I might be interested.

This is all pretty funny to anyone who has been in archery for a while. Every single word said has been said before about the march in weight down from 10 grain/pound arrows to the currents standards.

Well OK the IBO stuff wasn't part of the package, but what a joke to be talking about an IBO standard! There isn't any such thing. There is a rule relative to competition, but inlike the AMO rule, it doesn't specify any particular testing conditions, and is specificaly there to put forward a standard that isn't velocity based. There is absolutely no reason why HCA should use an IBO standard for anything. Anyone who wants to push the envelope into lighter than 5 grain territory, can't use the IBO or AMO standard, nor can they compete this bow in any regular 3D comps I am aware of. They may even feel there are legal reasons not to quote these standards for this bow since they are based on the idea that sub 5 grain is dangerous.

There has been a lot of tech change since we first moved into the 5 grain area. It must be possible to engineer a faster bow with lighter arrows. Sure it won't be very efficient with a lighter arrow, the same is true with 10 grain vs 5 grain. Since when isn't 70 foot pounds enough.
