I'm looking at bows and found some used ones, but the best priced one is a 50-60lb. Would that do to kill big animals( Deer, and maybe an Elk one day) I know shot placement kills, not speed. Just wanted a 60-70 to bump it up past 60 though. Thanks David

if you're mostly going to hunt Deer, a 45# is about the minimum i'd dare to use. i'm shooting a 65# with 2315 aluminum shaft arrows with 125gr 3 blade fixed broadheads and i'm confident that i could take most things in North America with it. (maybe not buffalo)
the thing to remember is that you're shooting razor blades. cutting into an animal isn't a problem. just try not to hit a shoulder blade and you should be fine

I was just watching an old Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild episode last night on Mossyoak.com and he is a huge proponent for shooting light, smooth bows. They were moose hunting and he was shooting a 53 lb bow and his son was shooting a 50 lb bow with no problems.
