Will a 60lb do the Job??

RE: Will a 60lb do the Job??
I am shooting a 60 lb. bow.I shoot a montec and my arrow passes through deer and sticks itself 12 inches in the ground. 60 lbs. is plenty. Don't get caught up in all the talk of K.E. and arrow speed. If you shoot a good broadhead and can put the arrow in the right spot, you will be fine. All Ted Nugent shoots is 50 lbs. and he gets a pass thru almost every time.

Shooting only 57#s with a XX78 2117 an magnus buzzcut head for a total of 545 grs. I think you you have to take into account your total setup.....bow , arrow , broadhead and see how it performs together!

20 years ago, I used an 80 pound bow. Now I've got a 60 pounder that is pretty similar in all respects to that old bow, except it's got more efficient wheels and has about 2" less brace height - 8" vs 10". This late model 60 pound bow shoots the same exact arrow the same exact speed as that old 80 pounder did. Back then, nobody ever asked if 80 pounds was enough to do the job.

When I first started bow hunting and for several years I shot 78 lbs and the arrow would pass through both lungs on a whitetail deer.
Now I shoot 64 in warm weather and 60 in cold weather and the arrow still passes through both lungs, but it is a little easier to pull out of the ground.
My 60 lb. switchback will pull above 64 lbs.
