Help me find an arrow rest
Hey all, it looks like I've been given permission to pickup a new bow, I think I'm going with the Darton 60MX. The problem is, things have changed so much since I bought my last bow I really have no idea what to put on it foran arrow rest. My old bow has just a plain flipper rest which is stuck to the cut-out of the riser and is nothing more than a slim piece of wire with a teflon sleeve for the arrow to rest on, I did however put some mole hair on the shelf and around the flipper for noise reduction. I need some advice on rests. I'm looking to get back into shooting the way I used to, bare bow, fingers, no release, no sights ect. I really don't want to spend a bunch of cash. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Vudoochylde

RE: Help me find an arrow rest
I would take a serious look at the GKF Shoot Out. This solid containment rest would be an excellent hunting choice. This rest is perfect for stalking or treestanding. The rest can also be shot with fingers and gives you a choice of a top load or side load. A solid, simple, rugged rest with very few moving parts....sounds like a perfect bowhunting rest to me.

RE: Help me find an arrow rest
Catfish369, IL-Cornfed, thanks for the suggestions. I was doing a search last night and found a couple of rests that looked pretty close to what I had so I think I'll look into those further, right now I can't seem to remember which ones they were but I'll look tonight and post them to see if anyone has used them or knows anything about them. Thanks again!!!

Come on Voodoo, Whittle a rest out of hickory! ( Just kidding man) There are a lot of "spring" style rests on the Golden Key website that are pretty simple. You may want to look into a "whisker bisquit" as well. Kinda goofy looking, but the concept is very no-frills. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

For what you described (bare bow, fingers, no release, no sights), the NAP Centerrest flipper would be perfect. It's got the same flipper wire you described on your old bow but it is on a threaded post to adjust for center shot. Excellent fingers rest. Around $15 I think. Very simple and very easy to fix in the feild.

vudoochylde - yes the shootout is a nice rest. Also the new power drop was an awsome rest and man it works great. We where zipping arrows out of it with a black knight 2 & man is it the real deal.

RE: Help me find an arrow rest
Thanks for all the replies, I just picked up 2 Flipper Rest IIs from New Archery Products at Walmart (yeah, I know I hear the snickers as I type this) last night for $2.75 each. So I'll test one out when I get the bow. And just to be on the safe side, I'll put some Mole hair on the shelf and a small strip on either side of the rest.
