I shoot the 400 axis, 29 1/4 inchs with a 3 inch vane, wraps, 85 grian thungerheads , F.O.c. is about 9% and putting out about 69 lbs of KE out of a 65 lb Black Ice. They shoot a bullet hole in paper at 10, 20 and 30 yards and when I go out to shoot my broadheads I never shoot more than two arrow at a time because if I do I will cut off vanes, nocks are blades of the broadheads and I can take one hand and wrap my finger around a 3 or 4 arrow groups with no flyers at all out to 30 yard are more with field points. Last year I shot the same arrows out of a 65 lb Jennings and blowed through two bucks. My Archers Advantage says there are on the lsoft side , but shootable. The 400 Axis are working great for me. You may shoot them diffidant than me, but always remimber a $1000 bow is worth 0 if you don't have the right arrows to go with it and you can hit anything if you don't have good from and you can't hold on your target. aim, aim and fallow through. Stay with the shot tell it hits the target and never give up on the shot if it feels right

I am confused, according to Easton's site, it tells me that 65lbs and a 27 inch arrow with 100 grain needs a 400 size shaft. However, you are saying that it would be better to shoot a 340. I am going to go buy some arrows this weekend and would really appreciate some help from the experts. Thanks,

A over spine arrow will shoot good, but a under spine will not. I would go with what easton say to shoot. I thing they know what they are talking about. You know they do make the arrows. I have shot over spine arrows a lot in the past. I have better luck with the right spine arrows for 3Ds and hunting. They group better, better scores and penetration on game is great.

The arrow length is the issue in your case. 27" arrows are stifferthan 29" arrows, and would allow you to run the 400 series with a few pounds more draw weight before you need the 340 series arrow.

ORIGINAL: Straightarrow

I chose a tip weight of 270 grains. There is no good reason to restrict yourself to 100 grains.
Why do you chose to shoot a 270 grain tip??

A great site partly because of it's calculator is http://home.att.net/~sajackson/archery.html , the top 3 on the menu get frequently used when I am setting stuff up. Put this in your favorites and use it. As far as arrow recommendations go, I agree w/ Bowdoc 100%, much better to overspine and arrow than underspine for safety and shooting. I shoot CHEAP Cabela's Carbon Stalker Extreme arrows because the price was right, and they are AMERICAN made good quality arrows. Only come in a couple different sizes but I've had absolutely no problems w/ them.
