Some bows are not designed to be forgiving at all...

Arthur,

Does this also apply to recurves? I'm looking at an ad for a "Sky Hawk" recurve which is rated at 204fps AMO.

This seems awfully high? What can they do to make a recurve with that much cast?

beprepen, I'm not familiar with Sky's advertising, or even their newer bows for that matter, but if they don't say they're shooting to an AMO standard or even calling it an IBO rating, then you have to take that advertised speed with a grain or two of salt. Most times I've seen speeds over 200 fps advertised for recurves, they're shooting carbons out of 'em at around 8 grains per pound.

What are some things that you can do to a bow to make it more forgiving and accurate?

To make your bow more accurate practice perfect form. To make it more forgiving buy it some chocolates and flowers or else stay out of the bars at night so that you can practice.

Arthur, I'll look into it some more. But what about the forgiveness issue? Is there a large range in forgiveness between recurve bows?
