I have been shooting this dually Patriot a little more and really am beginning to like it. I decided today to try a few different arrow weights through her to see if there was a preference for heavy or light arrows. Tests were shot with string loop and peep.
Here is what I got at 28" draw:
60#: 335 grain PSE 300 = 294 (64# KE)
381 grain ACC 3-49 = 277 (65# KE)
428 grain ACC 3-60 = 265 (67# KE)
490 grain AC Kinetic 340 = 250 (68# KE)
66# 335 grain = 315 (74# KE)
381 grain = 298 (75# KE)
428 grain = 285 (77# KE)
490 grain = 268 (78# KE)
It is interesting that the bow maxs out at 66# (tested on 2 scales), which is fine with me given the KE I am getting at 66#. It is also interesting that the factory spec sheet for this bow gave it an IBO speed rating of 312 fps, yet with a string loop and peep, I was getting 315 with an arrow that is 5 grains over IBO weight.
It is going to be interesting to see what kind of numbers I get with the tall brace height Black Knight (when it arrives).

YIKES!
Those are some excellent speeds! I'm assuming you bought a 60 pounder and it goes up to 66? (as opposed to a 70 that won't make it?)
I'm really itching to get mine to a chrongraph now.
I know one thing, the bow is REALLY fast, and more importantly accurate at those speeds.
Make that two things <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> LOL
This is really a good thing for people who have injuries. I have one as well, but it only affect my lower back most of the time, not my upper, so drawing a heavy weight doesn't bother me most of the ime , unles my injury is aggravated already. But a guy who has a back injury can now buy a 50 pounder DC PAT and still have plenty of punch for most game animals on this continent with a very forgiving brace height.
You can probably expect about another 10-12 FPS out of the tall brace brace BK.

Jeff,
It actually is a 70# bow, so I am not sure what gives. I twisted up the cables a little to see if I could get a little poundage back, but that did not make a big difference. I actually am content with the bow maxed at 66#. Actually, at 66# the draw cycle feels harsh, but seems reasonable when backed down to 64# or less. My muscles probably just are not conditioned
It will be fun to see the speeds posted when the 30" modules get shipped.

Hmmm.. well if you are happy than that's good. Sounds like though you could probably just switch out the limb rockers to the taller size and get 70 if you wanted it.
I'm not sure I want to see the speeds with the 30" mods, LOL.

The first thing I did when I got my new '02 Pat was to weigh it on my scale. The spec sheet that came with it said it was set on 70.9 pounds and did 309 IBO. On my scale it showed 74 pounds but it is an old hog scale I bought on a farm auction. The scale looks exactly like the bow scales you can buy but mine is older. The only way to check would be to put a known weight on my scale and test it but I figured that BowTech probably had a better scale than I did. Jrb, did you notice any difference in noise or shock when changing draw weights? I'd like to check mine when it comes in with some 2419's to see what speeds it will do at 30 inches and 70 pounds.

BowTech uses electronic digital scales that measures to the tenth of a pound.
I really can't believe that the bow would have shipped at 66 lbs. since the bow probably wouldn't have shot it's advertised speed 4 lbs. under peak. I would tend to think maybe both scales were calibrated wrong? I use a 25 lb. weight to set mine.
If it's a problem, get with your dealer so he can get it taken care of ASAP.
