I've had a little more time to play around with my DC Pat. I don't have the time or typing skills to get too detailed, but I'll just second every positive thing that has already been said: solid back wall, very little recoil, all around exceptional bow.

The biggest negative I can think of is the hush kit. I think it is absolutely worthless for eliminating the string twang and cost 7 fps, so off they came.

I was able to get 327 fps with a tied in nock and slightly advanced cams at 71 lbs, 29". The 30" modules should be good for at least another 10 fps, so I'm looking at 337 fps with NO, NADA, NONE, ZILCH, ZERO recoil and a brace height that measured 7 7/8".

Top that Mathews!!

500 fps,

Did you notice much change in noise with the hush kit removed? Also, are there crimped nocks on the string beneath the string silencers, did you remove them too? I am going to start adding some Sims products to try and quiet the bow.

Thanks.

I haven't had the luxury yet of shooting any of the DC's, but how would you classify the draw? Hard, moderate, easy? I am used to the CPS system and wonder what the draw is like to that and the new Hoyt Razortec which I did get chance to shoot and was smooth (easy). I could shoot 65# with no problem but I dont think I will be able to with the DC's. Not that I need to, but for comparison purposes. So with all that, I am wondering what the draw feels like. Thanx

jrb CO,

I couldn't tell any difference at all. I think something that goes between the string like leeches would be more effective. They have them placed between the "speed nocks" and a 3rd nock closer to the cam. All 3 nocks are covered with shrink tubing.

Jerry,
The draw is definitely in the hard category; harder than the CPS but not as much as the Black Knight 2 or Legacy, and has more of a valley (though not much more). I like the little extra let-off also (70%).

Oh my gosh..lot’s of questions…

Jerry,

In no way is the valley like the Martin Z cam. The closest Mathews cam I can think of is the mini-max cam or the SL3 on the Legacy as far as feel. If you’ve ever shot the old PSE Orion cam, that’s pretty close. The new Hoyt Spiral cam is another that’s similar.

I measure string to lowest part of grip, and add 1.75” as per AMO specs. Do not forget though that AMO spec allows variation 1/8” +/-. At any rate I have not measured the DC PAT, only going by feel and comparing it to my 2K3 CyberTec which I did measure.

I have not shot any of the other DC bows..errr…that is 2003 DC bows.

I may goof around with super-light arrows off-season, but come hunting season I usually throttle back a bit for where I hunt now. Back home, hunting field edges where some 40 yard shots are commonplace, I would likely be running them at 5 grains. Now 25 to 30 yards is my max shot. I like a bow hunting rig in the 270-280 FPS range. Thats' about my threshhold to where I feel my form can stillflater and end up with a good shot. Of course some bows are better than others. Iw as shooting the BKII at 300 FPS plus I found it much easier to shoot than some bows that were 30 FPS slower.

WWAG,

Looks like your question was answered, sorry it took me so long to respond here.

RB,

Recoil was very low once I got it “dialed in” By that I mean, once I got used to the grip, decided on which release gave me the most solid anchor, etc. It’s no worse than my 2K3 CyberTec which is not too bad at all. At first I was using a release that caused me to overextend a bit, and I was torqueing the bow, once I got settled with the right release and a solid anchor, I did not find the recoil noticeable at all.

As far as balance goes I really think the best stab for the majority of shooters on this bow would be something fairly heavy but short in length. Say 5” and 8-10 oz. or so. Personally I like longer heavier stablizers so I have the bow top heavy, but I like the bow to fall forward at the shot. The difference is that with the DC PAT, I'm making it do that whereas last years model had that amount of "tip" built into the entire riser and made the bow a bit clumsy feeling if you did not have a very short stab on it.

I do not shoot with an open hand, as I personally believe that induces torque and some extra pressure from forcing your fingers out. I shoot with a relaxed hand with thumb and first two fingers barely touching. I don’t use a sling.

Frank,

Wall is very solid..not as solid as the Infinity cam with a draw stop, but it’s quite similar to the cam and a half, if not better. It’s more solid than last years BK model I owned. And as good as the vast majority of onecams out there that don't have a limb stop.

I believe that the Sims products will make a significant positive difference in noise as it has done so when compared to my Patriot, BKII, and G3.2 that were equipped with VB (in particular I thought the G3.2 was quite loud until I installed limbsavers. And it had double VB's at the limbs!). I like the VB stuff, but there is no doubt actual volume levels go down with the limbsavers (though the “tone” of the VB’s I think is more low pitched and “mellow”). In addition the BT Silencers are placed up near the cam where they are doing a minimal amount of work. When I place Leeches in a more “common” location, I expect that to further reduce noise (along with a maybe couple of FPS, but this bow has FPS to spare)

I wish I could give some direct comparison, but until I get the Sims products on and compare it to my other Sims equipped bows, It’s not a good comparison. For now I just have to say it’s not as loud as my '98 Darton Maverick was (which was equipped with Sims gear), and not as quiet as some of the really quiet bows I have owned like the Pearson DB and Mathews Icon.

Following 500 fps lead, I cut the silencers off of the string and simply added 2 string leeches. I noticed an immediate decrease in sound. As soon as my solid limb savers arrive, I will exchange them for the vibrablocks. I know that change made a big difference on my '02 Patriot, so I am expecting the same.

Jeff,

Are you keeping the vibrablocks on and adding limb savers or do you take the vibrablocks off??

Any of you guys use the two piece Bowtech quiver, Looks like they may spin a bit. Are they noisy?

Matt, when did you order your Pat? I ordered a couple of hours after Ausie did. I'm beginning to fear the shop may have dropped the ball on mine. What were you told about delivery time on the P40? I'd be interested to know how you feel it compares to the P38 DC. Thanks.

Phil.
