No doubt about it, for penetrating big critters and shooting whisper quiet, heavy is the way to go. Mine are right on 500 grains and in the old school traditional world, that's even light.

Well, I just got back from the archery range. Couldn't help but notice that when I aimed at the 20 yard target with the 20 yard pin, these arrows (502 grains with a 100 grain field tip) hit right where the 30 yard pin was looking. I began to work my way back. The 40 yard pin was right on the moneyat 30 yards. The 50 yard pin was only a couple inches highat 40 yards. And the 60 yard pin was only a inch low for 50 yards.
So without moving the sight - what I had previously zeroed for 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 with393 grain arrows; is now 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 for 502 grain arrows. This could work. I'm only planning on using the heavier arrows for elk. Now I just need to reprogram my brain that the middlegreen dot is30, not40 . . . .
