So I have a 27.5" draw length and shooting 58#.
I have noticed, such as with the chart for Easton ST Epics that in the 55-60# range with a 27" draw they recommend the 500's with 7.3gpi, and with a 28" draw they recommend the 400's with 8.6gpi.
My question is....is it better to go with the 500's or 400's, given my draw length is right in between?

It is almost always recommended to err on the stiff side with carbon arrows. The 400's would not only work, but allow you to crank the weight up if you so desire or possibly go to a heavier broadhead.

Like BGfisher says, always err on the stiff side. It's easier to correct problems. Also, arrow length plays an important part in this, and the arrow charts do not take it into consideration. If you like a bit longer shaft to keep broadheads clear of your hand, then you need a stiffer arrow than the charts recommend. Add in the fact that most carbon arrows tend to be rated slightly stiffer than they actuall shoot. Add all this together and one can see why stiffer is better - much better.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. I am just getting my feet wet with building arrows andbow tuning, so appreciate the help. I am sure, with my emerging obsession, I will be up to speed on most things come hunting season.
