Try any of the above brands' models that have a brace height OVER 7", and stay away from the ones that don't. Best advice I can give you. Other than that, try them all, and find out what shoots and feels best to you.

But of course, I have to throw in another vote for the Merlin line myself! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

Figure out what brands and models you interested in and shoot them and decide for yourself. What's right for one person might not be right for another. For me I'm getting two new Mathews this Spring but, I will look at the Bowtech line because everybody is talking about them.

pup,

It really isn't easy to just tell you which bow is best in each manufacturer's lineup because most bows are built for specific applications.

Lets take Sag and P12's Merlin for example. I don't think many folks will argue that their Max2000 and Supernova are probably some of the most praised in their lineup. Though I am sure either one could be used effectively as a hunting bow I do believe that they were originally designed as bows to be used for indoor or field target archery.

The opposite is true as well. Take a look at some of the Bowtech lineup. I don't think anyone will argue that their Tech29 and Mighty Mite are excellent bowhunting treestand and ground blind bows that could possibly be used for competitive 3D or target archery. They definitely weren't made for that type of shooting though.

If you could specify the application then maybe we could give you one or two bows from each lineup to consider.

i will be hunting whittail from a tree stand mostly but i will also be doing ground hunting for turkeys elk and maybe hogs.. i will also be doing some 3d shooting.. my draw right know is about 26 27 ish and i am shooting 55# but i want a bow that has some draw ajustment because i am growing like a weed... i want a bow that is light i would like one lighter than the hoyt magnatec i have right know and i want a bow that has a small grip on it i dont like the grip on my magnatec..and yes i do want a brace height of at least 7&quot; and i cant shoot every bow of every brand so i was hoping you guys could slightly narrow it down for me the bows i am most interested in are hoyt and bowtech i would also like to look at mathews but they dont have much draw length ajustment do they?? thanks for all the replys so fare.....

pup, the best thing you can do is shoot as many as possible. That being said, I would consider the Patriot dual cam, Pro 38 (both bowtechs). The Hoyts look to have the same adjustability with the cam and a half as the command cams so in there line you might consider the Razortec, Havoctec, or Ultratec. I have a Mathews Icon and it shoots great, but not exactly easy to change the drawlength.
If you can find a shop that is carrying the Merlins give them a try. Basically the best thing is to shoot as many as you can, goodluck!!

PUP, I'm another Merlin onwer so you know where I'm going. I shoot the Max2000 and it's just what you discribed w/exception of the lenght @ 40&quot;. Duel cam w/draw stops for a solid wall. Slin off-set grip for less torq. 7.5 brace ht. and recurve carbon limbs. I use this bow for 3-D and hunting and it hits where you aim. My scores increased 25% right out of the gate. I have a short draw like you at 27&quot; and I'm shooting 63# w/320 gr arrow at 278 fps. I have a daughter graduating from collage in May. So for her graduation I'm buying myself a Merlin Lite Storm. LOL. This one will be for 3-D. Alittle shorter at 37&quot; w/a 6.5 brace ht.but w/the same craftmanship as the Max. It may be hard to find a dealer but Pinwheel will do you right if you can't one and willing to buy off the computer. Before you buy another bow do yourself a favor and look at the Merlins. Best keep secret. (for now anyway). Good luck in your search. Jerry

Alpine Stealth SS.
Won the &quot;worlds quietest bow test&quot;
within 1-2 fps of the fastest bow in that test
36 ATA
Ball bearings in the idler wheel AND cam
wide string grooves (virtually NO string/harness wear)
VERY light (If you like heavy, put the weight where you want it
I shoot the Alpine Stealth force...basically the same bow, but a 39&quot; version
