Default How to determine DL ?

Ok so I want to get a new bow.. How do I determine my draw length? is it ok to shoot a bow with a slightly bent arm to reduce the DL? I dont want to buy a used bow and have it be too small.

Find a good pro-shop near you. If the folks there arelike thefolks at the shop near me you'll get all your questions answers and probably make some good friends as well.

The easiest way to get a close approximation is to measure your wingspan and then divide by 2.5. If you need further explaination then do a search of "wingspan". Then when you get a bow get one that is draw length adjustable till you figure out by shooting exactly what it will be.

The arm holding the bow should be slightly bent, not to reduce draw length but because it is the proper way.

Funny,my coach says a straight arm is "correct".

It is quite acceptable and may even be considered "correct" to have a slight bend on a hunting setup.Clearance can be an issue for the hunter.

The wingspan method does not work for all.

Funny
I have fitted several thousand people to the wig span method and it has worked for every person I have fitted thus far

this is getting very redundant but I will post it one more time[:@]

How to Measure Your Draw Length

Draw Length can be determined by a measurement known as 'wingspan.' This is simply a measurement and has nothing to do with how you actually draw back your bow.
How to measure your wingspan:
1) Lean against a wall, standing as close to the wall as possible with back flat.
[/b] 2[/b])Extend your arms and fingers out as far as possible
3) Have someone make a pencil mark at the end of both your fingers tips
4)Measure this distance

This is your wingspan. Find this number in the chart below to find its matching Draw Length.(For example, a wingspan of 67" would be a draw length of 26") [/i]
Wingspan Draw Length
(inches) (inches)

6324
6424 1/2
65 25
66 25 1/2

67-----------------------------------------------26
68 26 1/2
69 27
70 27 1/2
71 28
72 28 1/2
73 29
74 29 1/2
75 30
76 30 1/2
77 31
78 31 1/2
*** The Most Common Draw Length is 29 inches.

According to my level 4 coach,I am off about an inch from the wingspan method and if memory servesI know of acouple pros that also do not match up to the wingspan method.

I believe Erig Griggs and Michael Braden both said they didn't match up with it.
