Which is the better style Shield or Parabolic ?
Is one brand better than another ( Gateway ,AMG , Trueflight , Bohning) ?

Really not much difference in them except the "cool" factor. I personally enjoy the look of the shield cut, but it's strictly cosmetic.

I too like the shield cut for cosmetic reasons. With a tight helical they look really cool, but I guess I haven't noticed much of a difference in flight.

heres a quote from trueflights website

Do "Round Back" (or "Parabolic") and "Shield Back" fly differently?[blockquote] We haven't been able to detect any difference in the performance of round back or shield back. It appears that the only difference is one of appearance. Round back are more popular in the United States; shield back are more popular in Europe.[/blockquote]

I seem to find Tru Flight to be a little better quality in the 3" & 4" lengths. Of course the feathers are the same, but the Tru Flight quills seem to be a little flatter and a little thinner than Gateway. This makes them more consistent and easier to glue on. Gateway & Tru Flight seem to be equals in the shorter lengths.

It may just be the luck of the draw. Maybe I've just been luckier with Tru Flight, but I use them when I can get them.

I've never tried the AMG feathers.

Never tried AMG either but True Flight feathers are definetly of better quality than Gateway. The quills are much more consistant.
