Broadhead Weight
Just got the new 3555 Goldtips, but am unsure which broadhead weight to go with. My goal is to be able to crank the bow up to 55 lbs.(am at 50 now and seriously weight lifting every other day.) My question is this: at that draw weight and with those arrows I can achieve the same KE with either a 100 gr. or 125 gr. broadhead. The lighter head gives me more speed obviously, but only 8.7%foc, while the 125 slows me down and gives 11.3%foc. These figures came from Bowjackson's calculators. What is the better choice? Also I talked to the people at Magnus and they said that they were going to produce the Stinger in 125 grains soon so I can get the broadhead I want in either weight. Any suggestions?

Lady, I would suggest getting a field tip of each weight and shooting them to see which your bow likes best.
Did the folks at Magnus talk about any other weights they will be producing the Stinger in, say 75 grain, perhaps?

Magnus didn't mention anything about the 75 grain, but then I didn't ask either! I was impressed that I received a quick e-mail response from them. The folks at Scott Archery took three months to reply to a question!

RE: Broadhead Weight
Lady, I shoot the 3555 Gold Tip XT. I have a 26 inch draw, 4 inch vanes, a gross arrow weight with broadhead of 344 grains I tried the 75 and 85 grains and found that I got a better arrow flight,FOC and improved KE using the 100 grain when my Parker UL31 was set at 50lbs.The speed loss between the 85 grain and the 100grain was not enough to discourage me from making the change up in head weight. I now use the same grain weight with the draw at 57lbs for hunting and 60lbs for 3D.

Lady Forge: 60 lbs? You have got to have some serious muscle!! I'm average size for a woman and I don't think I'm weak, but 55 lbs is probably going to be MY limit. Bet the boys on the range don't give you any grief! Anyway, according to the calculators with the 125 I'll have 360 gr., 100 gr. will give me 335 gr. I'm not too concerned with the speed I just want as much KE as I can get.
Moonge: Sounds like a good idea, but a bit sadistic! Paper tuning is a necessary evil, but I don't really enjoy it. I know for sure that I don't want anything less than 100 gr. With my old 5575's and 75 gr. tips I was good to 30 yards then my groups went to heck in a handbasket. From what I read here it could have been a foc or maybe spine too.
