Default ? about my DC Patriot on order

I ordered a DC Patriot a couple of weeks ago, and I chose the 60lb model. However, I'm starting to wonder if I want the 70lb. Given the fact that no one has even seen one, much less drawn one, I wonder what the draw cycle is going to feel like. If it's really similar to my 2002 BK2 60lber, then I want a 60lb Patriot. But if the valley is a little longer with a little easier pull, I want the 70. However, I definetly want to shoot the bow maxed at it's peak. All of my bows previous to the BK2 had 70 lb. max peak, and I've never had a problem with them.

I thought I had read somewhere that you can order a bow from bowtech as a "heavy" bow or a "light" bow for the range. For example, a "heavy 60" might actually be pushing 65 lbs. Maybe that's my best option?

What to do, what to do.

Default RE: ? about my DC Patriot on order

Rod,

I’ve got a 70 ordered this year too. 28” & 29” modules, so I can test the bow at both draw lengths, and If I like the new grip I could probably stick with the 29” modules (generally I drop a mod size cause I don’t care for the BT grip much, and taking it off, as you know increases your draw length by about ½”…I use a loop to make up the diff..)

The new cams are supposed to be smoother, but I kinda doubt they are so smooth as to negate 10 pounds of increased draw weight. That would be an awesome design feat, but realistically I’m not hopeful.

I suspect that if you like 60 now, just get ya a 60 and enjoy the extra smoothness they are building into the cam. I’ve been buying 60 Lb Bowtechs for a while now, and even though I shoot them well, I prefer the increased holding weight, so I thought I would get a 70 this coming year to try. I don’t have too many problems drawing the weight even with my pitiful back due to my size (in fact with the right cam I prefer 80 pounds). I just have to remember that I cannot shoot as many arrows per session…which for me is good, as I’m not one of those people who shoots 100 arrows a day…I’ve always found that detrimental as I cannot concentrate for such long periods of time. I’m much better off shooting 20 arrows a day…and many days I just shoot 2 or 3. less is more in my case.

I suspect you could always upgrade to 70 pound limbs if you wish. However the bow is still going to have enough KE @ 60 pounds for anything on this continent.

You should ask BTS about the heavy/light limbs..I know Mathews was doing that at one time, but I don’t know about BT.
