Jeff's right, Sag, your opinion is quite valued here, just as everyone elses' is! Doesn't matter how good you shoot. I know "Pro" shooters who have only been in the sport a couple of years, and couldn't tune their own bow if their life depended on it! A "Pro shooter" is just that, but a "Pro Archer" is something on a much higher scale. I know many "Pro Archers" who have never even toed the line in a National competition that can tear any bow completely apart and re-set it up to shoot the exact same hole in minutes. Some of these techs I hold in the highest esteem, and have become great friends with.

On the other hand, there are alot of guys out there who think they know alot about the sport and tuning but are only really fooling themselves, too. Sure, everyone wants recognition, (human nature) but I see far too much bad info being passed around, which is IMO detrimental to our sport. Manufacturers even do it for the almighty dollar! I see alot more of this going on nowadays since the messageboards came along, bad info spreads like wildfire, just as fast or faster than good info. (usually faster)

So credentials, if people have them, are good to state beforehand, people take pride in them as they should, and it gives you a foundation to work off from and more people are apt to listen to you. The only real credential that matters however is the years of hands-on experience a tech or "Pro Archer" has when it comes to really knowing "who's who in the zoo". Can't learn all of this stuff from reading pages on the net for six months or a year, that's for certain. (tho it does help! )

So I think everyone should post their thoughts and feelings and opinions, we all learn from them. I do feel it is wise to listen to those older techs and "Pro Archers" who have "run the gambit" and know their stuff, just as those techs and Pro Archers listened to the previous generation before them. Correct info gets passed, and Archery as a sport stays intact. Just my own thoughts, Pinwheel 12

Pinwheel,

Just wanted you to know that your last post is right on! (even though your crystal ball might be a little screwed up ).

I for one, appreciate the value of this forum and the knowledgable people like yourself who contribute. It has stimulated me to take a much more active role in setting up my equipment. A couple years ago, I had been shooting for 30 years, but never learned that much about the equipment itself. Now, because of this forum, I have my own bow press, fletching jig, string jig, archery tool box and workshop for this hobby. I do all my own work on my equipment now and I've learned a lot in a short while, and I recognize that I've got a lot more learning to do.

This is probably a problem with the casual reader of these forums, but for someone like myself, who reads them all the time, it's quite easy to take in all the information and to sort the good from the bad. Even when real experts disagree (which they will much of the time), I'm as capable as the next guy to determine which argument makes the most sense. Besides, if there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that there are very few absolutes. The right answer often depends on the situation. Also, we often argue decisions that are based more on personal preferences than they are on any scientific studies.

Overall, I believe these forums are beneficial to the sport of both hunting and archery. Like most things in life, you get out of it, what you put into it.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Funny, I thought Pinwheel said solo's are inferior, but good enough to get the job done at hunting distances if you want to settle for inferior

Oh yea, and obviously good enough to get the job done at the ASA & IBO World Championships. Once again, I agree that twins are probably superior to solos. But the Pros are snatching up ASA & IBO titles left and right with solos, so they can't be just all that inferior. In my opinion it is splitting hairs, the point is moot. At realistic hunting and 3D ranges it is obviously not a factor or we wouldn't see the current domination that we do now. I think if Pros are "settling" for solocams and still winning IBO World Championships then I can probably "settle" for shooting one at whitetails.

Protect your hunting rights, "Spay or neuter a liberal."

I guess that means me...

Sag,

I also agree with Jeff on this one. I value your opinion greatly and look forward to each and every one of your posts...(even though they all have the words "Stewart", "Merlin", "Redman" and "Accuriser" in them...) You are one of a core group of people that post on the various forums whom I greatly respect and admire. Don't ever belittle yourself.

.....and there is a reason I don't post on most of the "pro shooters'" forums....

Sorry folks but I have to disagree with you on this one. I don't value any information or thoughts that Sag has...

You all know I'm kiddin about that. I like Sag (even tho we haven't met YET) I just like to give him a hard time and he does the same back... Maybe we'll meet in Bedford 03'

These people are more than right Sag, Your opinion is very valuable and it should be your opinion not someone elses...

Like I said, it's just a little screwed up.

Frank,

You think it would sound better if some of my words were "Hoyt" "Bowtech" etc. : )
Hey, I guess, I am a little redundant aren't I ? LOL.
Thanks for the kinds words also, Frank.
You too, Pinwheel and Pat.
I also enjoy yours, Pinwheel's, Jeff, Pat, and everyone else posts too.
I see, you posted your Hoyt Razortec review on Archery talk. Good going!
Straightarrow was correct. I do admire Stewart and respect his opinion and quote him because of it.

Sag.
