Glad your OK!!! I'd give them the bow back, and ask for a new one!!! (Darton devil made me do it! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>) Seriously, once a bow has basically dryfired there is good potential for further problems.

If you have to keep it, like Pinwheel 12 said check your limbs and the rest of the components carefully!!!! I had a control cable go on one of my bows at full draw. There was no visible damage at the time, but within a few weeks I lost an upper limb. Its definately a startling feeling when it happens.

A stinkin $2 hunk of plastic wipes out an entire bow......geesh.
I guess there was no way of seeing that one coming, but you may have saved someone else an eye or worse.
I bet you're just about heartbroken right now huh?

I don't even screw around with any of the stock slides anymore myself.....now the SIMS teflon version is just as standard as Limbsavers on my bows. They go on at the same time before I even fire a shot.

You gonna be a little gun-shy after she's strung back up?

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys...and for finding my typos Jeff. As you can tell, I was somewhat flustered and disappointed. I am going to contact Hoyt to see what they suggest. I am not counting on a new bow but that would be nice...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. I had a cable break on me at full draw, earlier this year and it sure does startle you.

In all seriousness Frank, I think you should demand (and I don't mean that in an a-hole kind of way) a new bow so you can send that one back so they can observe it and inspect it...Who knows it may be a problem that they have with more than just that one bow and needs to be looked at. I remember the first year for the Redline cam and how many they had get out that were bad...Not bashing, I know it happens...It's called production...

The problem was with the components they put on at the plant. The part was defective and your bow blew up on the third shot?...C'mon you can't tell they would even hesitate to send you a totally new bow?...You know about JeffB's new bow that got destroyed by UPS and how that was handled right?...

either your bow shop shop or Hoyt should replace the bow. Geez you only took three shots, something was definitely wrong with the bow.

On a side note, I think you should have posted this same message on Archerytalk.com. I'm not trying to bash Hoyt, but I've never heard of a bow failing after three shots that was brand new. I realize that you don't want to make waves. Pleae let us know how Hoyt handles this issue.

Frank: It ain't fun. Been there and done that many times. From limbs breaking to risers breaking, it scares the h*** out of you every time.

OUCH!!

I did have a chance to shoot some of the cam and 1/2 bows we got in at the shop. They are SWEET! All of them have a great feel. Hope you get yours put back together soon. What did you think about that smoooooth cam system before it came apart?
