MERLIN

RE: MERLIN
jsasker,
In the begining of this year, i went out and tried several new bows.
The list was: Hoyt Tykon, Bowtech tribute, Mathews switchback XT,
Darton Marauder, Merlin XS.
I tried every bow mentioned, except the Darton ( no dealers around).
First off, every bow on the list are excellent bows!
It comes down to personal preference and feel.
At the time i owned an 05 switchback, so that bow kind of set the example for smoothness and quiet shooting.
Well, i bought the Merlin with alpha cam, it matched,or exceededthe Mathews in speed, smoothness, quietness and accuracy.
This is my HONEST OPINION, opinions vary, iam very happy with my choice in bows.
I also ended buying a switchback XT, but i keep going back shooting the Merlin.
I am going to want a little more speed for 3d, so i am going to order a Merlin XS with viper cam, this cam is for the speed freak, and is reasonably smooth for the type of cam.
The viper cam, is right up there with all the speed bows, merlin doesn't inflate their speeds like other companys ( mathews ) etc.
Hopefully you have a dealer close by, so you can test shoot a Merlin.
I bet you will be pleasantly surprised, and impressed
The fit and finish is second to none, and the limbs are a work of art.
Good luck, and good shooting!

RE: MERLIN
Excellent open minded and honest review bbahunter---many are finding out the exact same thing once they get away from the advertising hype of some of the " more popular" bows.Once you compare the build quality and shootability, Merlins will certainly stand with the best of them, anytime, anywhere.
Like you said, not every bows works for every person, that is why there are many choices. But I strongly recommend that anyone looking for a new bow should also try a Merlin before settling on anything.
Sag---Yep, that is a sweet Supernova, always liked the silver and gold comboof target colors.

RE: MERLIN
bbahunter,
Thanks for the complement and, yes, it does shoot great.
Pinwheel 12,
Yes old pal, have to agree, since getting this silver colored Super Nova from you, silver is still my favorite color for a target bow.
That's why my latest Bowman is also silver.
Sag.

RE: MERLIN
Sag-
Yep, but ya need a shiny new silver XT sitting next to it, or maybe even a camo one, or an XS![8D]
Stuart makes some nice bows too, no doubt--just ribbing you.
Someday the rest of the flock may toounderstand, but for now it will be limited to the few individuals who knowthe very bestquality equipmentwhen they see it. The rest willblindly follow the advertising and hype of lesser equipment manufactuersthat need to do that to stay afloat. Funny, but Merlin has been around for over 30 years, with virtually NO advertising on either side of the pond---something to think about. In fact many people have nevereven heard of them in the USA!Stuart doesn't advertise much either, neither does Barnsdale, and other quality bow manufacturers. Hmmm, wonder why?? They may not have 10 million bows going out each year, but what does go out is absolutelysuperb, and they are still making a decent living regardless. Biggest doesn't mean best, just means biggest. Been around too long to be fooled into believing otherwise.

Pinwheel,
Would not mind having a silver XT sitting next to my Bowman and Super Nova one bit.
Agree with everything you said in your last post.
Wish my local dealerstocked Merlin but he's too wrapped up in the hype of Mathews.
I would still buy my Merlins from you anyway, old friend.
Just would like my local dealer to stock them to show everyone how awesome they are.
Here's a new pic I took just yesterday of my Super Nova.
She still looks great after 4 years.
