I have tried to read the info that started this. I have found a link that Kevin Strother talked about trying to patent the Binary cam, only to find out that it was "prior art" and couldn't be covered by an enforceable patent. There were actually 3 patents mentioned in that thread, but one was for a cam with 2 feedouts and one take-up. AFAICT, Neither Kevin nor Bowtech has a patent that will be able to keep others from using the binary system. I believe that Rex Darlington purchased the rights to the hybrid cam system that he and others are using, and didn't necessarily invent it himself. The Binary patent (if he actually has one that is enforceable) is also something he purchased, not necessarily developed.
I have owned many Darton bows, and they have generally shot better for me than almost anything else I have tried. They would undoubtedly be more popular if they would advertise more effectively, pay more attention to asthetics, and try to keep up with others in noise/vibration reduction.
