Ahhh Jeff, wrist hinge is a cause, but not the point itself. True pivot point is the connection of the string/cam. If you grab a bow, any bow, with any riser design, and torque it in any way, shape, or form, where does it "bend"? Always at the string/cam connection. Your wrist is a hinge, yes, but that is only one of the means with which you can "pivot the pivot point". Poor form, varying anchor positions, induced side torque, etc. can also throw the true pivot point off. Grab a bow, and draw it to full draw. Lock your wrist. Now move your anchor point. Where does the string bend? At the pivot point of the string/cam connection. Has nothing to do with your wrist, right? Unlock your wrist, and move it. Yes, you are inducing torque, but that is not the true pivot point. No, it is not the grip, you are correct there, but it is not the wrist either. I'll have to get on Frank about this one, as it is tricky.

I've got to side with Sag on his point, I prefer a heavier overall mass weight also as opposed to "super light" weight and then having to add countless amounts of vibration accessories to keep it tamed. I also feel the Tec risers are better off without the overdraw, and still maintain that Hoyt will have an great year with sales of the cam and 1/2. Martin should do well with their Onza too, but their best seller will be either the new Scepter 3 or Cougar I'll bet. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

Frank,

I didn't realize you were getting another Hoyt until I read your post at Archery Talk.
I would have sworn you would get a new Bowtech. Not really, lol.
Didn't mean to offend you by bringing up the Hoyt risers being bent.
Besides, I just know you're going to buy a short bow and that type riser should be stiffer, stronger, more flex resistant than the longer models.
And you're right. Even a Bowman can be bent in a bowpress if not adjusted correctly.
You're correct on your assessment of the overdraw too.
They are less forgiving but, I guess, I'm too much into structure on favoring the old Alphatec and Onza II. Comes from my former bodybuilding/powerlifting mindset.
Jeff is correct also in saying what does it matter what harness system you use on a 30yd shot on a whitetail.
I guess, I'm trying to turn you guys into target shooters when you're just a bunch of hunters. LOL
I think, I'll go find a place to hide now.
Unless someone wants to have a bashing contest against my Accu-Riser. Any challenges ?

Sag.

The way my luck has gone so far, all I can claim to be is a target shooter. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

It's really nothing to be ashamed of, right?<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sag-

When are we gonna have that Accuriser-beatin' contest? I have an old Alpine Silverado Pro-3D in the closet that has a solid riser about 3/4&quot; thick that I'd have to lay my money on. Ante up!!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> LOL. Pinwheel 12

I have half of an ol' Bear Whitetail I can use if need be.....<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. You are right Sag. I think we both look at this from two different perspectives. I can see where you are coming from and agree with you from that standpoint.

I am probably getting a Razortec but it would seem that a Bowtech isn't entirely out of the question either. I think it would depend on the model in question. They don't have anything that fits my specs exactly but there are several that are darn close...and you can't ignore some of the things that they are doing.

Speaking of new things....about the only one of the big boys we haven't heard from is Mathews. I really wonder what they are going to do to top these two???

Oh, and here are the pics from the other site.....

I think Hoyt is offering some impressive new stuff. I can't wait to hear if this new cam is as silent as they say.

One thing is for sure, these Hoyts don't hold a candlestick to the new bowtechs.<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

One point I'd like to mention is that these companies like Alpine, Hoyt, Bowtech, and others that release product in October IMHO shoot themselves in the foot because it then gives all of the other companies 3 months to come up with a better design, or plot and plan their marketing strategies accordingly for release at the AMO show! True, there is a three month period of 2003 sales before 2003 including Christmas, but irregardless, the sales period for 2003 bows remains the same 12 month period because those that bring out bows in October will bring them out again 12 months later. Seems to me sales of bows will be higher if new items are released at a big event such as the AMO show where every dealer can see them and they get everyone fired up after Christmas when everyone is looking for a new bow in the spring. HMM, maybe Christmas sales are that high? The AMO produces some serious attention, everyone always wants to know what was new, and IMO bows that are released three months beforehand are somewhat forgotten about by the time the show comes around.
I just don't know about the whole strategy as I feel it may be hurting them, but I'm sure there is a method to the madness somewhere. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

Perhaps it's coming out with stuff so mind blowingly excitable that expectations are raised to a level unattainable by those who wait for the AMO show. Doesn't seem like three months is a whole lot of time to plan, plot, prepare, construct, market, etc... 1 up them before they can do anything about it.
