Default Hoyt tuning

I just purchased a 2003 Hoyt Razortec off e-bay. The information sticker shows the draw length to be 27.5-30". It's currently set at 29" with a 51.5" string. The tune chart on Hoyt's web sight shows that a 27" draw length has a 49" string. Do I need to change the string and/or cables on my bow to achive the 27.5" draw length that I need or is what I have adjustable? I shoot off a loop, so should the draw length be set a 27" to give me a 27.5" draw?

To the best of my knowledge you use the same string. Doesn't your bow have the cam and a half system. If so there should be numbers on the side of the cams. It should re 27, 28, 29, 30 or something like that these are your draw length settings. according to your measurments a 29 has a 51.5" string and the 27 have a 49" string. When you shorten your draw length you will be shortening your string in a sense. If you take your 51.5" string set for 29 inches and deduct 2 inches from that which is how much you need to remove to get to your 27 inche draw you will in essence be removing 2 inches from the string to which should put you at 49 to 49.5" which is what you said the 27 was running. To me it just doesn't make sense to me for them to make a bow that requires a different string for each draw adjustment. hope this helps and if you are still unsure call hoyts tech line, they are really nice and very helpful.

The Razortec has the cam 1/2 and yours is adjustable from 27 1/2" to 30" in 1/2" increments. The A slot is the shortest(27 1/2")and the F slot is the longest (30").The string length only changes when the size of the cam changes and they change in1" increments.Your bow is considered a 29" model but you can get a 30" model that would be adjustable from 28 1/2" to 31".And so on.

You can't get your bow to 27" unless you short string it,and I don't recomend that. With a loop you will most likely be better off at 27" if your draw length is 27 1/2".I would reccomend ,IF THE DRAW LENGTH IS TOO LONG WITH THE LOOP,to take the loop off and shoot off the string or get the next smaller cams but that would require a string AND cable change. It would be better and probably cheaper to sell the bow and get a shorter draw model.

Hope this helps.[8D]

Thanks for all your help. From what I gather then, my bow can be adjusted to 27.5" with no problem. I'll do that and see how it fits. If I can't shoot with a loop comfortably I'll try shooting off the string, I think a 27.5" draw length is the max I want to go. My Magnatec is at it's lowest setting of 29" and even though I can get in a 6" group at 25 yards it takes some doing. I may end up selling both bows and get a new V-tec or something. Thanks again.
